Hi,

My brother has a Porsche coated with Cquartz UK. It's black and has several tiny white spots on the hood due to rock chips. He asked me to help him touch those up and I immediately thought of Dr. Colorchip. But how does the ceramic coating impact the application of it? Unlike a touch up pen that you just try to put a drop in the eye sore, this product calls for an application next to the chip and then you smear the paint into the chip and later apply the SealAct. What will SealAct do to the coating? Although I feel comfortable with the DA and touching up the paint, I don't want to mess with ceramic coating on his car because I don't know how to re-do it if I had to.

Thanks

Thanks for that link. So based on what he said it seems like it's not a good idea to touch up over cquartz. It should be done before the car gets the coating or it won't stick properly. Bummer.

I say it'll be fine. The chip is removed paint & thus it will have removed the coating with it. You're only wanting to fix the missing paint so the "dab & smear" technique will work fine . . . probably even easier to do the clean up step with SealAct because of the coating in my opinion. SealAct won't harm the coating in any way either. :xyxthumbs:

Please post some pictures if you decide to go with Dr ColorChip so we can see how you get on.

That's the issue, most of the chips were there before the car was coated. He bought it used and the previous owner had a ton of swirls. He had the paint corrected and coated but touching up was not part of the deal. Now he'd like them fixed but I guess with a coating that is just a few months old, chances are the touch up paint won't stick properly based on what that FB video said.

You need to clean out (mineral sprits) each chip. It seems like a lot of work, but if you do a few every day, you will get it done in no time.
