How do you guys dry your foam pads after cleaning them? Just lay them out? I was thinking/hoping there was a faster way.

Usually yes. Any other way I feel can degrade the backing plate interface, such as putting them in a clothes dryer. I do however usually take mine and wrap them in a beach towel to mash out as much liquid as I can and then I leave them wrapped up and sit the towel over an AC vent in the house just to get air movement.

I am sure there are faster ways.

I just air them out too and I agree it takes forever.

I need to invest in one of those big box fans so I can just lay them on top and speed up the process.

Squeeze them out with a towel, then put them in the dryer until they are semi-dry (to avoid the excess heat Hump is talking about), then lay them out to finish drying (clothes rack is good for this--Mike Phillips recommends Velcro up).

If you have a rotary or a Flex you can spin the water out of them.

While I'm working:
Pad washer ---->Spin Dry on DA or rotary ----> wrap in towel ----> dry in sun

When I'm done for the day:
Pad washer ---->Spin Dry on DA or rotary ----> wrap in towel ----> air dry

Pad washer, drag pad along rounded edge of bucket lid. Remove, wring out, wrap in towel, wring out, set in sun, VELCRO up. If its evening or crummy out, dishrack dry.

The edges of my microfiber pads were starting to get stiff. I only did a panel. Made sure I covered the whole thing with product. I would run a brush through it while working. The edges aren't that bad and they softened up pretty good after a hard scrub. Should I cut the strands that get a little too stiff

I wash mine with APC and then spin them on my PC and then stand them up with a spray paint can behind them of the box fan I have in my garage. They dry in no time.

I APC soak, wash in the DP pad cleaner, spin on rotary then I have some strips of Velcro mounted on my washer and I hang them from those.

I didn't tonight, just tossed them in with some de-greasing soap and Tide. I generally let the washer run with the lid open, then set it to spin to drain the barrel, then refill and rewash.

I dry pads in the dryer on "delicate" setting (lowest setting with some, but not maximum heat).

How to dry a foam pad after hand washing

After washing your foam buffing pads by hand the question often comes up,

How do I dry my foam pads?

Here's one way to dry your foam pads, please feel encouraged to find a way that works best for you.

Using a clean, dry cotton terry cloth towel or clean, dry microfiber waffle weave towel or any clean microfiber towel, roll your washed and rinsed pad up inside the towel.

Press the towel into the foam as you're folding the pad into the towel.

Then squeeze, squish and wring the towel which will force any excess water out of the foam and into the towel.

Afterwards, place your foam buffing pads upside down some place where they will stay clean where air can circulate around them and moisture can evaporate out of them.

I think I shar 2-3 more ways to dry pads in my how-to book.
