I'm part of a nice forum for 4th Gen Eclipses, and I saw this thread all about Dry Wash n Guard.

It makes my stomache cringe watching and reading about this product. It's basically RUBBING dirt right in your paint. Nd lets not forget to use this guys awesome technique of working the product in a circular motion. That sure as hell is going to give you that showroom shine.....:bash:

What annoys me the most though is how stupidly this guy advertises this stuff. Bashing on traditional washes n how they use over a 100 gallons for one wash. He insists that this product gives his car a "showroom" shine, but wht he fails o mention is his wonderful swirls he is putting in his paint giving it a REAL showroom finish:doh:

What do you guys think? I feel as if though many of you would gladly chime in on this subject :D
 
I have a neighbor with a Lexus and a late 90's Porsche. He uses Dry Wash & Guard exclusively for the last 15-years and is very happy with it. His cars look very good but I have to think he has swirls and his paint has embedded <everything> in it. This year, I am going to plant a seed and tell him about the baggie test.

I can see how it can clean a car, but I'm almost 100% sure it would swirl the paint. I believe products like ONR and OWW+ concentrate are muuuuuuch better.

The stuff has been around forever. In fact Amsoil used to sell a version of it. I'm sure its ok for dusting but not washing a dirty car.
 
Subscribed to see more opinions. This stuff is very popular in the car cruise crowd. When I look at their cars, I see a great shine with tons of fine swirls.
I just acquired a bottle to test for myself. Based on my unscientific observations, I won't go near dirty paint with it. The pump-up spray bottle is way cool and will become my bottle of choice for spray detailer once it's empty. My first test was on the underhood plastics of my wife's BMW and it was still beading water a month later. This past Sunday, I did a bunch of panels on my DD Olds after a DG Rinseless wash, as a potential booster for my 5-month old coating of Collinite 476. It looks good and slicked up the finish quite a bit. We'll see how it goes after a few washings.

It was the wash off choice for my girlfriend's patents and their 50s cars. Then one of their friends classic cars caught fire and the fire dept said the wash was an accelerator. They stopped using it.

Just a bit of follow-up. As posted, I wiped my DD down with Dri-Wash on Sunday eve. After Tuesday's rain, it needed a wash, done once again with DG Rinseless. Beading and slickness were still good, but I found one aspect I didn't like. Dri-Wash dries very white, so I found white specs around the gas door, in the door gaps and other assorted nooks and crannies. It all wiped off easily, but I'll know to be a bit more careful next time. I'm accustomed to using DGAW or OID while drying when I want a quick boost after a wash. None of them require as much attention to detail when you're in a hurry, so that's one entry in the "minus" column for Dri-Wash.

I never used Dri-Wash.. but I use waterless every day.

I hate to tell you this but, if you're car is a daily driver.. nothing you can do will prevent swirls.

1)Your car's front end is constantly getting peppered with fine rocks, sand, bugs, leaves, sticks, trash, etc as you're driving

2) If you car is parked outside EVER, all it takes is a leaf in the wind to induce scratches of some sort.

3)An improper wash with water will scratch and swirl as much as an improper waterless wash can.. just because you use water doesn't mean you're free and clear.

It did not, but as I posted, I washed the car first with DG Rinseless. I'll use Opti-Clean on a dusty car, but if it's been driven, I do a rinseless wash or regular wash. If you are curious about how Dri-Wash works on a dirty car, I'm not your guy for that test :laughing::laughing:.
