Dull Spot In Paint - How To Fix?

06 Porsche 911 - Today after washing I noticed a dull spot in the paint I have never seen before, its just above the driver side door handle (Inside red arrows, bright spot is the sun). Sun was hitting just right and I seen it. Last time I used my PC7424 on it was about 2 mo ago with Adams, I use the correct pad with the correct product. Not a beginner, I would say advanced intermediate using it and have used it for 8 yrs now on different vehicles, never an issue.

What has happened and how do I fix it? Thank you.
 
The pic looks like a milky white color not a dull spot. Anytime I see that I think clear coat failure. If that's the case, only one way to fix it, repaint it.
 
My wife's vw cc has some areas like that I've been working on her car when I can I only got about half of it done. I used m205 with a mf cutting pad very happy how it came out but I have not worked on the areas that look dull it also feel really rough like over spray. My plan when I get there is to clay the hell out it then m205 with mf cutting pad if I'm not happy I'll pull out the m105 with a new mf cutting then follow up with m205 on a finishing pad. If that does not fix it I guess it will be time to repaint those areas. Nice car by the way
 
Seeing as its a small spot, and you're comfortable with polishing, I'd say try a light pad and polish to see if it improves.

From the pictures it appears to be sanding scratches.

Joe if you look closely at the edges where the paint goes from shine to dull there is a very un-uniform texture (I guess you could say) that make me think it would be a strike through or burn.

Your thoughts?


Its hard to see but thats what I am seeing.

EDIT:

I cropped the photo and blew it up and bit and made it a little more clear to see the edges
 
It is also consistent with an area being sanded too much. It could have been polished out just fine but was too thin to hold up. Very hard to tell with out doing a diagnostic in person.
 
Gentlemen, I agree with what you are thinking based on what we can see in the pic, except one point that the OP made....this is a new dull spot that he has never seen before. If it was caused by sanding, I would assume he would be aware of/familiar with the spot. The fact that it just suddenly seemed to appear (have to assume that is an accurate statement) is what makes me think this is clear coat failure. Thoughts???

Answer was:
I have had it 2 years. Had a good deal of swirl marks when I got it but was in excellent cond with 42k mi. When 1st bought I used Blackfire SRC with an Orange pad, followed by BF Finishing Polish with white pad and Sealer with red pad. 2nd time I used Adams Swirl and Haze with orange pad, followed by Adams Machine Polish with white pad and Sealant with red pad.

Nothing obtrusive or harsh. What do you think? Any way to fix?

Maybe a better picture would help us see more clearly what's going on. We can see its dull and hazy, but can't see much more.

Maybe to OP can take a few more pictures?
