Dupray, vx5000 or mc1275

Hello guys, im looking at getting a steamer. I work 50 hour weeks and have been detailing after work for customers for about a year and a half now. I've never used a steamer before but everyone claims they're a huge help. I'd like to get one. Someday I would like to open my own shop. So keep that in mind when you give your suggestion. I'd like to keep it under 1000. I know the mc1275 is a way lower quality model. Just not sure if that would be a good one to start with? I hear a lot of good stuff on the vx5000 but i hear others complain about not being a continuous fill system. And that's where the dupray models shine. What do you guys think? Thank you in advance

I'm in the same boat. Looking into getting one myself. With steamers you get what you pay for. I'd really recommend the dupray. I think it's the best quality for *just* under a grand. It does however put out good pressure and is solidly built. It is the model I'm most likely going to get for myself getting back into the business.
 
Dupray has a huge range of models. Tosca and One Plus are *just* under $1000 at RRP, but there are less expensive models. One Plus is the cheapest Dupray with continuous steam.

There are people on this board who use the McCulloch MC1385 and make money detailing, so it can't be that bad. I own one now but have yet to give it a real test.
 
Thanks guys. I just don't want to get the mc1275 and realize I want a better one and waste that $150. And if I'm going to spend nearly 1k on one id like the best I can get. Just looking to get the most out of my money. Hopefully some guys who have the DUPRAY or vx5000 can chime in
 
I did research on steamers for around 2 weeks before I made my choice. The Vapamore is a great machine, but in the end I chose the McCulloch MC1385. The McCulloch steams for up to 2 hours, has a bigger tank, longer hose, and I think it has a little more psi. On the other hand, the Vapamore has a lifetime warranty and a stainless steel boiler. I would suggest that you get what you can afford because the 1385 does a great job. I only detail part time on the weekends, and I use my 1385 on every interior that I do and it works great. If you search the board on here, you will find a long thread about the 1385 that has some reviews, links, etc. Hope this helps!
 
I bought the VX5000 and then the Dupray Hill Injection. I couldn't pass up a nice deal on the Dupray and I lked the continuous refill and that you can use tap water. Both work great, but I've only used them around the house and haven't had a need to use it on my car yet. I still have both.
 
I have and use the VX5000....great product...great customer service....you will talk with the owner every time....and Rennie Doyle has a video on the 5000 and how to use it properly....
