Duragloss 105 + 601 am I doing it Right?

I am a totally new user to Duragloss 105 and 601, I followed the directions and some recommendations on here and the results look good but I'm not sure on longevity and continued need to apply 105 each time.

How long till I should reapply, car is outside around 10 hours/day and garaged the rest, South Florida weather/sun/summer rain.

Do I need to apply 105 again, or can I just reapply 601?

Is there any advantage in blending the 105 with the 601 as Duragloss mentions on their site in terms of getting better shine/longevity ?

I'm also reading I could topcoat with Duragloss Aquawax or Collinite 845 for a deeper gloss, my car is White.

Well I am not sure *how* you applied it as you didn't describe it.
Some apply 601 first, let it haze, then apply 105 on top of it. After 105 goes to a haze, they remove.
Others mix 4 parts 105 to 1 part 601 in a separate bottle, shake it up well, then apply them together.
Both methods work well.

601 is a bonding agent. DG claims it will give you a longer life of the 105.
You can easily get 6 months with this combo, probably more.

Aqua Wax is a great spray sealant and if used regularly will help maintain the gloss.

After 105 / 601 cures, you can top it with probably anything if you wish. I like to top with Optimum car wax (spray product) every 2 months or so and use AW after washes.
 
If I was going to top with another durable product, it would be Duragloss 111.

Sorry, I applied 105 first in sections, then put 601 over top of it without removing as directed on the bottle. Allowed it to haze then polished with a MF towel.

I noticed the 105 just evaps and does not leave a real visible haze, at least on White. Could that be because I'm not using enough or ?

The 601 in general is harder to spread it seems than typical paste wax I used in the past. Was wonder if I can or should use a little water to help?

I did notice ONR without wax aids in beading water, I never tried the ONR with Wax.

So would 105 be needed each time you apply 601? Just wondering if it's like Zaino in that respect?
 
Correction, I applied 601 then 105.

The 601 evaporated not the 105, sorry.
 
601 is going to be very hard to see on White. I would look at re-doing the 601/105 around 9 Months. If you notice 105 say's nothing about UV on the bottle and 111 states UV inhibitors. 111 is a pure sealant but I would re-do by 9 Months also unless you see substantial degredation before that. Don't worry, the 601 was there but very translucent.

Duragloss Clear Coat Polish (CCP) #111
Pure sealant with NO abrasives, UV protection. Six (6) months protection twice mentioned in the link above. I always expect about half that because of unknown factors. Use it often and don't worry about it's longevity.


Duragloss Total Performance Polish (TPP) # 105
"Up to a year" protection mentioned 3 times. UV protection is NOT mentioned, so don't expect it according to that description. I always expect about half the longevity mentioned because of unknown factors. Use it often and don't worry about it's longevity.



My understanding is that the bonding agent, to be applied before other DG products or mixed 1:4 (1part DG601 to 4 parts DG xxx), helps to increase the longevity of the sealant in each product.

Two applications a year for each product should be more than enough.

To get the most accurate answers you might be better off to give Duragloss a call.
 
If you put 601 down first, then 105 on top, let it haze, then removed....you are good for at least 6 months.
If you put them down in reverse order, 105 first, then 601, I'd re- do it.

Next time, just get a tiny bottle at a store, mix 1 part 601 and 4 parts 105. Shake it up, and apply together.

105 has some cleaning agents in it. I believe they are chemical cleaners, not abrasive.

I think 111 looks a bit better, but 105 lasts a bit longer.

2x a year is good.

AW as a monthly topping is even better for the mix. It's dirt cheap, a little goes a long way.
 
Here's a little tip for mixing with 601; Don't sweat a measuring cup or spoon. Just use a ruler and add 1/4 inch of 601 for each inch of 105, 501 or 111. I use a clear 4 oz. squeeze bottle and 1/2 inch 601 with 2 inches of 501, 105 or 111 usually does a midsize car. Here's my wife's Cruze after a wash, 2 months after 501/601 topped with 111. No spray waxes have been used as drying aids or as a booster and it still looks great parked outside 24/7. I'll probably do the same procedure about November to get it thru the winter, maybe adding a second coat of 111.
