I'm looking for a extremely lightweight non-elastisized bottom dust cover for a garage queen. The car collects more dust in the garage than road dirt. I'm having a hard time finding the above mentioned product, everything is 5 layers and tight at the bottom. Thanks for any help you can lend. :props:

Thanks definitely looking for non elastic though. Elastic is too much of a PITA in a confined area to get on and off. Maybe I'll just buy a BIG bed sheet!!

The elastic is sewn in the bottom, if you don't want it you can just make a couple of slices in the hem and voila' no more elastic. That's what I did.

I'd rather clean dust off my garaged vehicle than deal with a dirty car cover rubbing on my paint.

Do not even try to tell me you can keep the inside of a car cover 100% clean and you car is 100% clean when you put a car cover on it.You wash your car and car cover every time you put it on? Yeah, sure you do!

I don't cover my cars during their garaged winter hibernation. It is a complete waste of time.

The best item I have seen it the car bubble. I is a bubble that sits on the ground and fills with air. There is a fan that keeps it inflated. if your car sits for long periods of time its great. If a ball hits it the air offers a cushon and the air is replaced by the fan.

I saw a video on the net, if you goole it I am sure you will find it. I think it was from Griots Garage.

Not sure how the car gets in there--Sorry.

When I had a garage queen a few years ago, I used a flannel cover on it (for the extra cushion of the flannel material) and noticed the same thing you're seeing now. I significantly slowed down the dusting issue by placing a sheet of clear plastic OVER the cover after it was placed onto the car. Roll film is fairly inexpensive at the larger home improvement centers, and depending on the size of the car you could purchase a large plastic dropcloth.

The thought process in doing this was that if I could keep dust off the cover then I could keep it off the car.

Good luck!

I agree. I have some very nice microfibers that I hold over the paint to pick up the dust. I had a car cover for a SAAB and it was an SOB to get on and off without touching the floor. A king size sheet would induce less scratches IMO.

:iagree:I think car covers do more harm than good. No matter what, dust is going to get under them and between the cover and the paint. When removing or installing the cover dust is going to get rubbed around on the paint.

Good think the Geek doesn't sell car covers, huh?

....They don't sell car covers, right?

They do sell them. I was debating it, but decided not to get one. My car has been sitting for 4 weeks now. Boy does dust build up fast. Hopefully I'll get out of this leg brace soon. I start twitching every time I see it. Plus, the wifes car looks horrible. Major knee surgery sucks big time!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if it's just dust collected from say...Winter storage in an enclosed place, like a garage, wouldn't a blower easily get rid of said dust??

My car gets a LIGHT coat of dust during winter storage. I wash it off.
