Funny story about the Sharpie. When I was active Coast Guard, I traded places with a crewman from a British Navy missile cruiser that was on patrol with us. Now, I had no idea that the British Navy has alcohol aboard their ships. In fact, the enlisted sailors are issued two cans of cider per man per day. Cider is like champagne in a can.

I was warned by the British crew to not drink so much that I pass out. I asked what would happen if I passed out. They told me that I would be painted. Thinking that was some weird British slang I ignored the warnings. They promptly got me tanked to oblivion. They all pitched in their daily rations of cider.

Not only did I awake the next morning feeling quite green, I also looked it!! I got painted.

You gotta love the Brits!
