I put a coat of this on my wifes Black Acura TSX wagon before winter and it has held up great with very little work on my part. My only concern was i never felt like i got the timing quite right as far as how long to leave it on before buffing off. I was also VERY careful in the cleaning phases and trying to remove all the polish before sealing but still managed to get a few spots that look almost like a drop of oil in standing water. Her car is always the test bed for my black car so its not a big deal on hers but i want mine to be flawless.

So knowing how much effort i put in to REALLY trying to nail it on her car and missing the mark slightly has be doubting myself for putting it on mine.

Is there a sealant that will give an expected 2+ year life but might be easier to get right? If possible staying around $100 for the system needed start to finish would be ideal but not necessary.

I've become accustomed to the placement
of last step products...(LSPs; "sealers")...
into the following categories:
•Waxes
•Sealants
•Hybrid-Waxes/Hybrid-Sealants
•Coatings

•IMO:
-CQuartz UK falls into the Coatings category.

-The below link is a good starting point for
locating similar Coatings in AGO's stock room.

-Whether one Coating is easier to negotiate
than another one, can be dependent upon so
many factors. {Following the Manufacturer's
recommendations from-start-to-finish is the
best route to take when dealing with Coatings}.

If you want 2+ years and easy go with Gloss coat. This falls into the coating category like CQUK.

PBLv2 coating is almost foolproof. Saying that with a grain of salt. Make sure your surface is cool or it will flash too quickly, but you can say that about any coating.

Out of the three ceramic coatings offered by CarPro I'd say CQ UK is the most difficult to apply. UK was designed for use in colder and wetter environments and flashes extremely quickly in warm temps. This can cause terrible issues because you could be in a situation where you can't even apply to an entire panel before needing to start leveling. The oily spots you describe sounds like high spots in the coating that weren't 100% leveled. You should be able to remove them with a few swipes of a finishing polish and still leave the coating intact.

If you like the longevity and protective characteristics of UK, you should check out the original CQuartz. The newest formula is really nice to work with. In my environment (typically 60-70F / 50-70% humidity) I can coat a panel or two and then immediately start leveling.

I can only imagine trying to apply CQ in Florida in my garage in the middle of July at 100+ and 90% + humidity.

I applied cq finest on 20000 sq foot home after sanding all of the floors and polishing. He bought 7k worth of coatings,we had to switch to black fire was much easier to remove.Rip Dan borislow inventor of magic jack.

so what is a good coating that can be applied in high humidity environments? I live in Houston, Texas where humidity year round is pretty good. My best opportunity for a coating would have been cQuartz UK and would have been sometime in January.

Humidity is a major factor,cq uk is hard in cool or hot weather.I applied it on a jet in air conditioned hangar ,was to hard to remove the drag of the removal is brutal.I applied then waited under a minute and removed anything longer than a minute it bonded to the panel, making it one step harder.when it comes to coatings and suggestions so many variables and there not cheap for trial and error.custom sporty just answered your question about the ease of use of the product he used.

You CQ Finest your house?

No I was hired to sand and compound epoxy resin floors. The owner put down wood floors and hired a boat painting company out of palm beach to come to his house and spray the resin over the wood to create a high gloss shine.well when the boat people sprayed the resin didn't do so good with the ac on and left milky white patches everywhere.so then he hired a detailing company out of Orlando to try and sand it out, they weren't able to do so and left deep scouring halos.when I was hired I sanded 20000 square feet then compounded then polish then finally a coating. It took 10 weeks of pure hell but was compensated for my effort. The owner purchased 40 cans of nu finish wax.I convinced him to apply a coating,so he bought 7k worth of cquartz. The cquartz was just to much labor, and decided to go with Blackfire easy on easy off with the ac on.later that year the owner had a massive heart attack at 51 year old and was the founder of magic jack.
