Disclaimer:
First things first, this review is made possible by the gracious folks at Eco Touch (James Dudra) and AG, since they graciously let me be one of the guinea pigs for this line of products.
Product:
Ok now that the disclaimer is out of the way, down to the nitty gritty. First up for my reviews is Eco Touch Wheel Cleaner.
Description from AG’s site:
Eco Touch Wheel Cleaner is formulated for the detailer that wants clean wheels without compromising the wheel finish. Eco Touch Wheel Cleaner is a powerful formula that removes brake dust and eliminates streaks, smudges and greasy residue. Free of harsh acids and glycol-ethers, Wheel Cleaner reveals a deep lustrous shine both you and the planet will love.
Eco Touch Wheel Cleaner is for you if you want brilliant shine on your chrome, alloy, and aluminum and you'd like to skip the toxins. Many wheel cleaners are advertised as "spray and rinse," which is another way of saying they are full of harsh chemicals that can ruin the wheels' finish.
Eco Touch Wheel Cleaner is formulated without hydrofluoric and sulfuric acid. Instead, it's made with readily biodegradable surfactants, mineral oil for shine, and a little citric acid to adjust the pH. These ingredients are effective at cleaning but safe on wheels. Eco Touch Wheel Cleaner will remove brake dust and greasy road grime just like the acidic cleaners, but it will not harm the wheel finish. Use Eco Touch Wheel Cleaner on all types of wheels with confidence.
Eco Touch Wheel Cleaner is part of a whole line of eco-conscious car care products that maintain your vehicle and the planet. Eco Touch proves products do not have to be harsh to be effective!
Features & Benefits:
• dissolves stubborn surface grime and brake dust
• safe for all wheel types
• free of hydrofluoric and sulfuric acid
Initial thoughts:
First thing Eco Touch’s design of the bottle is just about perfect, the only thing I could critique is that white is asking to get dirty in a detailing environment. They label the ingredients on the bottle (Who does that?? I don't have to request a MSDS sheet? Well it's not that thorough but you get the point.), nice clear instructions plastered on the back, bottles seem sturdy and well built, the special surprise to this one I will get to. The other big thing who doesn't want an environment friendly product to get the job done? So initial thoughts looks very promising..
Use:
Typically I do my wheels the same way every time. They are always filthy since it is still equipped with the stock brake pads and less than 6,000 miles. So I always attack the wheels and tires first. I begin by spraying down the tire and well with an APC, then spray the wheel with some type of cleaner or if they aren't that dirty I skip to the next step, then break out my tire brushes that are in a slight mix of car soap hit the tire, first brush out is my E-Z Detail brush to hit the barrels, then the boars hair brush for the face, and finally the wheel woolies boars hair detailing brush to hit the lugs and all the tight spaces. So when it came time to spray the wheel down, I broke out the Eco Touch wheel cleaner. First pull of the trigger
what is this foam coming out of my sprayer:
Well that was an extremely pleasant surprise I didn't even notice the extra little nozzle at the end of the sprayer. Well that sprayer is the best I have yet to use I must say (it will definitely find another use once I run through all the cleaner).
So I let it dwell then agitate it with the methods previously mentioned. Now was it perfect no, it is no Sonax FE or IronX but it has almost no smell of chemicals that I could smell either. It did the job but could have been better I did have to go back and rewipe the wheels with a MF once I completed the rest of the car, which I usually don't do I just hit it with the Metro Sidekick.
Conclusion:
So I would rate Eco Touch Wheel Cleaner as a good maintenance wheel cleaner, but to get to the nitty gritty on the nasty ones resort to your Sonax, Iron-X, 1z Colourtec, etc.. Would I buy it again? Yes I think I would buy it again, even if it was a empty bottle and sprayer that's how much I love the sprayer. It does offer a good value for what it is at $8.99 for 24oz. or $29.99 for a gallon plus whatever great promotion AG is offering to help fuel your addiction Im the MAN
Thanks for taking the time to read my long winded review and thank you again to AG and Eco-Touch for allowing me the opportunity to review these products.
