I seem to be having a problem attaching the edge flex adaptor to my flex 3401. Sometimes when I try to attach the adapter to my 3401 i have this problem.
After removing the Flex backing plate and screwing in the edge Flex adapter plate with the allen wrench and screw I than screw on (counter clockwise) the chrome adapter that the edge pads snap on to. I always seem to be having difficulty with this and I have to attempt it several times as I can't seem to get it to thread on correctly although when the backing plate is not attached to the flex i never have a problem threading the chrome adapter onto the backing plate (and allen screw).
