Does anyone have experience with either the Sun Joe or Greenworks leaf blowers from Lowe's? I'm looking for a medium or heavy duty elec. blower that can do double duty as a leaf blower (duh) and a car dryer. I like the price range, about $90-$100. Or if anyone has experience with a different brand I'd appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

a 150-160 mph electric leaf blower has worked fine for me in both yard work and drying the car. you can find one at sears and walmart for around $35 or less. if you have a solid coat of wax/sealant/coating then drying will be a breeze and most all the water will fly off with just some remaining droplets that a microfiber towel can catch...

I got the Greenworks pro 80v cordless and it's a powerhouse. Haven't used any other electric models though so that's my only suggestion.

I been thinking on picking one of these up lately.... Especially the way SPNS beads water I'm sure it'll roll off easily

I have the homelite from Home Depot. Still working on a hose conversion for it though. Does the job JUST fine.

how about cordless? Finishing touchA how long will it run? Anyone else using one?

It's somewhere between 10 and 20 minutes from a full charge. I can usually dry off 3-4 vehicles. And it only takes a half hour to charge.

I've got the ryobi cordless to match my other cordless tools. It does not have the power to keep up with my corded mini blower from CG. At home I still use the corded, but the cordless goes to the coin op wash in the winter.

If you can find a leaf blower with a round outlet it's pretty easy to build and adapter so you can use a 2.5" vacuum hose when using it to dry your car.

The cordless one sounds nice, I've got a toro and it works great for cars that have any sort of wax on them. If doing your own car, this is great, for new customers when a car hasn't been waxed in years, it's not as beneficial, but still great for getting water out of cracks and crevices. Good luck with it!

I'm hoping you will always plug whichever electric
leaf blower you choose, into a GFCI protected
outlet...especially whenever using it in/around
a "wet environment".

I have a Toro as well.

The thing to look at is not MPH as the end all - be all, but more importantly CFM / THEN MPH.

IOW's..... if it's doing 170 MPH with a lower CFM than one that does 160 MPH with a much higher CFM then the second one will win, hands down. ;)

Another thing would be look at 12amp units as a minimum requirement.

Yep, all the units I am looking at are 12 amp. Good info on the mph/cfm. Wasn't aware of this. Thanks.

I'm having difficulty finding the parts that'll fit the homelite (round outlet) to get it to the house connector without modifying the outlet. Guess I just need to buck up and modify. It was only 32 bucks....

Absolutely! Ever since my friend's dad drilled into a 240v circuit inside the garage wall using an old metal case Craftsman drill, I've had a healthy respect and awareness when it comes to electricity. I swear it knocked him about 6 feet across the garage. (That could be my imagination but it sure seemed like it)

I found the parts I used in the plumbing department at HD.

I believe the 'special' fitting you need is a fernco flexible coupler, can be found in the HD plumbing department. There are a number of brands other than fernco.

Yeah.. I just don't want to be "that" guy who carries parts of a leaf blower and vacuum hose into Home Depot and starts trying different things. I think I'll just have to get over that and swing by tomorrow.
