A hydraulic line ruptured on the freeway in front of the range roger. The fluid was on the clear coat for quite a while in the hot sun.

The long worm bubbles are from fluid eating at the clear coat.

Started off with the air powered DA sander to make heavy spots stand out.

Going back to make sure nothing was missed.

Quick compounding to check for more imperfections under sodium lights.

Here is a short clip of my camera moving over the hood. Thanks for viewing!

Nice save! I'm sure the owner was sick when that happened but happy you could fix it!

Approximately how long did the brake fluid sit on the hood to cause that damage?

Nice job!

Do you know if it was actually brake fluid or hydraulic oil?

Brake Fluid is nasty stuff on paint. I think we had a recent post about something similar where brake fluid landed on the hood of a guys car while it was in a shop being serviced and everywhere it landed it swelled the paint.

On single stage paints instead of swelling the paint it seeps into the paint and creates purple stains.

:)

Thanks for the feed back!

The fluid was probably sitting there for less than half a day. The temps here in texas are pretty extreme!

Any sort of hydraulic or brake fluid (besides DOT 5) will swell paint from my experience.

Is there any remedy to brake fluid damage to single stage paint; beside a respray?...
