Hey I am looking for some experience/advice on using vapor steamers in detailing. Mostly for interiors of vehicles. There are so many out there and the prices go from a few hundred $ to thousands of $. I like the idea of using steam to break up heavy dirt on vinyl and carpet and upholstery. I've watched videos of it being used to do this. The users say that it cuts time on the job, but it's hard to tell. Plus, I am wondering if these machines would work with an extractor on carpet and upholstery to achieve better results than an extractor alone. I run a shop in Wyoming and the dirt and mud is thick sometimes. So what machines give the most bang for the buck. Thanks ahead of time for the advice.

I've got a cheap Harbor Freight steamer, and I love it! Don't know how I cleaned interiors without it

The mcculloch 1375 is approx 140 usd and put out 58 psi. IMO there is no better bang for the buck. Check out mccullochs web site. I just used mine for the first time three days ago and have to say an extractor ( i have the bissell little green machine) is FAR superior on seats, carpet and anything fabric. I found the steamer shined in geting thick gooey stuff up nicely and it was great for blasting one odd section of the vehicle, i.e. stow n gow braket. However, I believe a small brush and some apc does the same thing a steamer can do. I like the new steamer but i think steamers are overrated. Especially by those who have never used an extracter.
