I'm guilty of buying too much and can't use it all up...

Clay does dry out.....
Polishes, even the ones in tin cans...solvents do evaporate.

I don't know about wheel cleaners that have Thioglycolic once produced but IME, it does seem to be not as effective over time.

I found some Reset in my stash that must be very old
Has anyone had Shampoo go Stale ?

It was flat as F###'
I swear I think I might have poured a whole cup or more into a 5 gallon mix after seeing how bad it was foaming.


I put it aside as I wanted to test my observations. I did grab it with me the other day to re-test my findings, observations and I totally spazzed and poured a different shampoo into the bucket before I was too late

I now buy smaller bottles but sometimes the whole Costco mindset kicks in and while I should be buying the 16 oz spray the 1 Gallon Jug ends up in my cart instead.

Yes, I have had shampoo go bad, it usually gets long stringy gunk growing in it, but I really don't remember if that affected the performance or not.

I'm working on a gallon of Meguiar's #63 that's 20 years old, that is fine.

I've got some Mother's California Gold car wash on the shelf that may be 20 years old, still looks fine and washed ok the last time I tested it, a year or so back, it even has a crack in the lid which hasn't seemed to affect it.

But I have had a polish seperate in the bottle, no amount of shaking would get it to recombine, but it was only the one bottle, it was bought as a set of 4, different grades, and it was only the high cut that was affected, from memory it was Menzerna.

And I may have had some Gyeon Wetcoat go off, either that or it was a bad batch, I stopped buying it because that was a real bitch to clean up on the paint after.

I might be in the same issue with you Big Dave re: shampoo.....I know I easily have at least cumulative, at least 1/2 gallon of *good reset*
Then add in all the Bilt Stuff I only use during winter as needed....

Add a few gallons of HyperWash on Deck already
What spurned this post. I haven't see HW on sale at circa pre -flation- pricing so I picked up a case when I probably shouldn't. Shampooo is something I use weekly or bi-weekly so I did the self justification there....

For me, most stuff becomes irrelevant before it is no longer usable. I try to purge every few years by posting a big pile of stuff on FBMP. It usually goes fast.

One of those irrelevant products to me now is Optiseal. I just tried it again this weekend and thought, wow, I used to love this stuff. Now a quick spray wax crushes it in looks and durability.

Got around using the stale Reset...

Yes, flat, minimal foam, dissipates quick......all the lubricity that makes this special is not there as well.
Interestingly....lubricity aside, cleaning power is still as it it was noticable during the rinsing phase that it did --Reset-- my coating.

Interesting, maybe some bacteria ate the ingredient that makes it foam and lube, but not the stuff that makes it clean.

The dilution was much more like . 2 decent sized glugs ......foamed up okay. Dissipated real quick though. Another glug about 65% into the wash as I wanted to see if I could eek come more lubricity by adding MOAR...and have more mix going into the leftover wheel wash.

So instead of the typical 1-1.5oz, it was super concentrated stale mix though.

For a while there, Reset had a reputation for not foaming very well, but that hasn't been the case for many, many years now.

I have no clue. I found this the back my stash where I already have 2 reset bottles prominently in front.....
The performance or lack of...it's in climate storage so it's hasn't seen huge swings of heat or cold.

I don't recall having an issue with it previously as it would be definitely on my radar. It's my Top Tier Shampoo, often supplemented with Hyperwash.
I've never had issues with both and both are fairy predictable in performance:dilution

I was so thrown off on the new formula, I do recall calling them and asked if it's a different product as it's considerably different experience. I even presumed it might have been a bad batch so I bought some more Griots down the road to see if things got back to the old formula and it still the new -watery- self

Mine has a mfr and expiry date sticker on the bottom, like all CarPro stuff.

Thanks, man--you've just made me happy I have a 20-yo gallon of Griot's that I haven't used yet. I may have tried it when I first got it, but then it went back in line. I think it's next after I use up my 20-yo gallon of Meg's #63. I still can't figure out exactly what #63 smells like, I think it's some shaving cream my father used to use, unless it smells like Brylcreem.

OMG, they still make Brylcreem! I wonder if it still smells the same.

Here's hoping your Griots hasn't expired....honestly wasn't expecting shampoo chemically to change.....maybe the white globs u may get on the bottom of some old product.

I take most of my 1-4L jugs and put them into flip tops so no idea what the date code is....As far as lubricity is concerned, reset is already up there with the old Griots so need to ever look back.

I had some Griot's Surface Wash and PolyGloss eat through their bottles. Both worked fine, though.

Definitely the old version. Still an excellent soap, it just doesn't foam quite as well as we have become accustomed to.

Looking back, when I first started using Reset, I had a number of people saying it needed way too much to make it foam, which was compounded by the cost of the product. I kinda second guessed that because it worked fine for me, probably because I was overdosing it like I would with other soaps. Carpro always sold Reset as a highly concentrated product, so I think people treated it like that in foam cannons, and the result was weaker foam than expected. Something must have changed because you can now get fantastic foam from as little as 60 - 80ml, not the 100 - 150ml some soaps need. From memory, this would have been 2020 or so.
