Failure on my clear coated wheels --- Please help

Hello Everyone,

Let me introduce myself first, my name is Pawel and Im a new member of this forum and perhaps this is my first post. So please, bare with me! ;) I have clear coated wheels, and I believe Im experiencing clear coat failure. I tried to use Megs metal finishing polish, Meg 105 and Megs Ultimate Compound to polish the wheels; however, none of the products work. So I tried using steel wool 000 with Meg 105 and as I was rubbing I created a black mark on the wheel. So Im wondering if there is any way I can remove the black spot or have it repaired? Also, how can I take of or fix the clear coat? Thank you very much for your help!Feed back please
 
You went through the clear coat and the paint on the wheel. The only way to fix that would be to have the wheel repainted and recleared
 
Game over as soon as you hit it with steel wool...
 
Welcome to AG. It appears that you rubbed through the clear coat and base coat. Get some touch up paint and although it won't be a perfect match, it will look much better then it looks now. BTW 0000 steel wool should be used on metal and not paint, same goes for metal polishes. We all learn by our mistakes, Pawel.
 
I have had a similar problem (failing/peeling clear coat on the wheels) with a DD in the past. Is there a way to safely remove the failing clear coat without damaging the base coat?

That would be quite a daunting task for a paint-stripper
to differentiate between clear-coat, and base-coat,
wheel paints.

Welcome to autogeek, and like everyone said you went through the base, and clear coat only way to fix it is have it refinished
 
I was affraid that I hit the base coat. Thank you very much to everyone putting their two cents to this subject. Anybody knows how can I take off the clear coat so it wont look like the paint (clear coat) is pealing of? I've attached another picture so you might have a better understanding how it looks.

You are right Rsurfer, lesson learned :(
 
It will always have a peeling look. Refinishing is the only fix it maybe a chance to buy some new
