So let me start off by saying this. I have somewhere around 100+ micro fiber towels varying in pile and type. Im kind of a nut when it comes to MF towels to the extent if i accidentally drop one while detailing i dont put it with the engine or dressing towels i simply throw it away or give it to my mom to use on what ever. I do this to avoid any possibility of damage on absolutely anything. It might be a little over the top but it makes me feel more comfortable when im detailing. I keep all my detailing supplies at my parents house since my apartment doesnt have a garage or a storage area.

Not to long ago I accidentally left a bin of my towels open and when i came to them they were covered in sand and twigs and hay. So i set them to the side in a pile until i figured out what i was going to do with them not detailing related. I also have 3 other bins for the dirty towels. One for wax, one for glass and for exterior drying, and one for dressing.

I just got to my parents house and i was going to detail my truck but all my bins were empty even the ones that were in the 3 clean bins and the pile of compromised towels are also missing. I ask my mom where they all are and she tells me she washed them... So now ALL of my towels have sand and twigs in them, the glass towels have remnants of dressing on them, and they all smell like good ol snuggles fabric softener... FML... Looks like ill be placing an order...

Sorry to hear about your towels, but it sounds like it's time to move out. This sort of thing happened to me all the time when I still lived at home, but hasn't since I loved out on my own. My wife won't even look at my towels without asking...Mom...not so much.

Feel sorry for you :(
Would like to hear what you have in mind for your new microfiber collections...

OUCH!!!!! Sorry to hear that!! If you PM me I will donate a few of the Rag Company's Orange MF Towels 16 x 16 as well as a couple of WW towels (AGO) and a couple of others....mix and match. I would have about 20 to 25 I can donate. The only thing is you would need to pay shipping. Let me know.

PS: You can't fight Mom if you do you lose BIG TIME!!!....LOL

Lol no i dont live at my parents hahaha i mentioned in the post how I just store my detailing supplies there because my apartment doesnt have storage or a garage.

I feel your pain. We have been doing construction on our house for months. The contractor got wood and vinyl siding shavings in two of my bins. One bin was nothing but dual pile towels, pretty much brand new. Dropped $120 to buy 40 new towels for projects I had coming up. Nothing like spending before you even earn it! I think you are near me so if you need towels and are in a bind I can get you some from my supply.

Really where are you located?

Call me crazy but I believe that instead of shunking the whole lot I would invest in a pair of tweezers and a magnifying glass and would try and salvage them. They would all receive a healthy dose of APC and would be boiled to safe temperature to get rid of those pesky oils and such. I would then run them (in small batches) through the washing machine with a healthy dose of vinegar in the last rinse cycle. Lastly I would put them on low heat in the dryer for a couple of cycle to see. THEN and only then would I pronounce them dead (or not).

This is why I bought a dirty towel bin with 3 separate parts that I labeled and it's got a cover on it. Everyone in my house knows not to touch my towels lol.

Ashtabula County, NE ohio. I thought you were cleveland ish?

Not sure how I missed that, but I get it. Maybe Mom was trying to tell you that she wants that space freed up? Just kidding. Look at it this way, now you can amass a new collection of MF.

Dude, sorry to hear about your towels. I think everyone here can feel your pain. God bless your mom, she was only trying to be helpful. I'm glad to see you didn't get mad at her. Like Dr. Pain said, just wash them and pick out any twigs and debris. Also what an excuse to buy more towels. The fact that you are so meticulous with your towels show that you have "No Limits".

My condolences go out to those towels. They will never be the same after what happened. But with that being said. Good job on not losing your cool with your mom. If that happened to me i would have held back my temper. grabbed the shotty and went to the gun range and unload 1000-2000 rounds just to get the anger out and cool off. But like you said she meant well. Luckily everyone in my house knows do not touch any of my detailing stuff without asking

well at least you have a ton of engine and dressing towels. if you can get over your case of OCD (trust me, no damage will be done to the grime and dust covered black plastic engine parts, or wheel wells).

And who doesn't love having a good excuse to get more new stuff?

:D

I heard you can buy microfiber towels in a bulk somewhere does anybody know anything about this?

Here it is. Got it at Walmart for like $15. I wish it had more compartments but it gets the job done. The folding top helps keep dust and dirt out since I keep my towels in the garage.

I feel for you in this situation, but don't understand why you didn't explain to your mom not to wash them because they have to be washed in a specific way. My wife won't even touch my towels because she knows they are expensive tools. The only time I ever let my wife wash my towels is when I have a load of "junk" towels that need washed and it doesn't matter how.

Once you make your new order, time for a sit down.
