Have used McKees, Adams, Carpro 30 and 40. Not sure I have a clear winner and there may be others you would recommend.

What is your favorite glass (windshield) coating?

Not a coating in the sense of a ceramic/nano/glass etc..... but Griots glass sealant is pretty solid. Cheap, really easy to use and has decent longevity.

Does it start smearing around as it wears down like rainx does? That’s probably my only complaint with rainx. I’ve wanted to grab some of the griots, but I didn’t wanna end up just buying basically rebranded rainx lol.

I guess even if it was, I’ve used rainx for years and have just dealt with that quirk. So maybe I should just grab some when I run out of the stuff I have now that I haven’t even cracked open yet (non ag product, I think.)

PBL Glass Coating works for me. I get about 6 months out of an application and there is close to 10 applications in a bottle and it doesn’t harden up in the bottle.

I haven't found a glass coating that's worth it, but I agree that Griot's Glass Sealant is so easy to use it's what I keep coming back to.

I’ve posted this numerous times, but I use PBL and its good enough and economical enough that I haven’t desired a switch. I got 7 months (windshield) out of my last round (and still doing fine at time of adding Sealant on top) which included winter and now downpours all spring. I have yet to use half a bottle in 2 years (2 cars, all windows, times each).

Got gtechnic cuz I got in 15 ml. Will report back once applied

I've only used it the one time. I can't remember exactly how long it's been on but it's been over 2 months for sure. I've not had any issues with smearing or streaking.

Was using Pinnacle and really liked it, got close to 6 months.
Tried my first glass coating, Mckee's. For me it was the same as the sealant.
Will be trying something new to me. Fictech.

I applied Griots to my rear windshield and has been doing good. I can't comment on front windshield usage yet. Has lasted 4 months and I applied 2 layers following the directions.

I also have applied CMX to my front windshield and that is lasting me almost 5 months now. Was easy to apply, wipe on and off.

See this post for before and after windshield with CMX

As a possible tip, I always thoroughly clean and wipe my blades prior to applying anything to windshield. I use normal car wash soap and N914(at panel wipe dilution). This ensures I don't get smearing and other crap messing with any coating.

I also only use the newer silicone style blades, not the old rubber ones.

Lastly, I clean my blades every car wash too, to remove all gunk and crud from them. This ensures longer lifespan and clean wipes.

Glass Transparency (3 years), but you can't buy it.

I am another happy customer of the GG Glass Sealant. I have used Adams and Aquapel but for cost and easy application the GG is my standard. I have ran this on my three cars and now used it on friends and co-workers and never any issues. It is not a 'coating' product but it goes on easy and again costs very little. As to life you can get 2-to-3 months depending upon how often you use the wipers. I normally do not use them as too much fun watching the beads roll off at 40-mph.

As others have stated some common practices will help you get the best results:

Clean your wipers at least once a month. I use alcohol on a facial pad and throw the pad away, cheap and easy. Also good practice to clean with your car soap or window cleaners during normal washes.

Clean your windshield at night after a rain even if going back out the next day into the rain again. This sounds to be OCD-ish but it works wonders to keep the base protection product working as intended. If your car paint cannot shed the dirt and road film what is different about the windshield. Even with the wipers the minor oils and like will adhere to your glass.

And nothing wrong with the coating products except cost! I am going to try the IGL product soon but first need a new windshield, mine has a large crack now.

Hope you find something great, AG has so many options!

Currently use Gtechniq G1 after trying a bunch of others and 4 months in, seems to be the overall best of the ones I've tried.

Bonus points for coming in smaller 15ml bottles, more than enough for a car but not too much.

Out of curiosity do you have a comparison point against Fly by 30/Forte (Carpro). I've tried FlyBy30 and was underwhelmed (first carpro coating I didn't like)...might try the G1 based on your experience

Cant say I've ever used any CarPro glass coatings.

Fly by forte suppose to be better than 30. Probably the better comparison to g1

I use Gtechniq they have a sealant type and a coating type. I used the coating last August. I’m approaching a year now and it doing great it’s very tough coating. If anyone uses it they are very specific to use a cotton towel to wipe off because microfiber was removing too much of the product before the cure

I would also add....

I have never found a glass coating to last forever or even over a year on the windshield or back windows that have wipers.

The repeated use of wipers causes enough friction between the wiper blade and the coating/glass that it understandably wears off.

Always a good idea to have real-world and realistic expectations.
