Hi folks, i'm on the lookout for some kind of cleaning tool for my car interior which is mostly faux leather and vinyl with some upholstery.

I've been looking at a scrub ninja copycat and the Geist Leather and Textile bush.

Both of these products are supposed to be safe for all interior cleaning excluding screens, trims etc of course.

I think the brush is more my style..

Check out The Rag Companies VLB brush, great for jobs like this.

I would get the scrub ninja 5x3 pad. The material is same as the VLB brush but it being a sponge makes it more pliable.

There not that expensive so I would just get the real ones.

They will blow that Geist brush out the water.

Glad you brought this up. I love this brush so much for exactly what were referring to that I bought 2 more!

Amazon.com

They make a nylon Bristol for vinyl cleaning also. There mainly designed for cleaning upholster or carpet but so are most brushes. These just work well for many applications. There great for tamping out stained headboards or delicate cloth.

The site i order from doesn't have autofiber but detail popo's scrub sushi. They make good products. I'm not totally sure if it's the same material as the scrub ninja.

I was thinking the scrubber would be more aggressive. Not sure if i need that...

Thanks

I dunno how anyone could like that little scrubber. I bought 1 and IMO it’s waaay too aggressive. I chucked it.

[notice how Black that green towel is. I had the same thing happen to me and it wasn’t dirt]

That's what i'm wondering about. Apparently synthetic leather has some kind of clear coat. I have softex from Toyota.

What's interesting is that I found on a Toyota site that the recommended interior cleaner is alcohol based. I immediately thought of the relatively new interior detailer from Gyeon.

No not too aggressive and you will probably be grossed out on how clean your steering wheel becomes

No that clear coat is tough and you should be good. I wouldn’t use on old or aniline leathers. If that scrubber is removing dye you got bigger problems.

Those green towels are naturally dark, all I can say is that it didn't remove any of the coloring and deposit it in the towel or the (white) facing of the brush. I have found the VLB to be smoother/softer than the Nija-style scrubbing pads.

In any case, we aren't really cleaning leather, rather the plastic coating that goes on top of leather, or simply the vinyl that makes up 90% of a "leather" interior.

I think i'm going to pick up the detail popo sushi - it's cheaper and pliable. My distributor did say it's slightly more aggressive than the SM Arnold tool - Which looks nearly identical besides the color as the VLB - but both are safe for Toyota Softex.

Even "real" modern leather is finished with a clear top in the automotive world since like 1990s or something, at least that's what I read over and over.

But on the topic, I got a CarPro inner scrub for my interior dirtier areas.

The carpro mitt looks good but i'm just not into the mitt. I can see it helping professionals however - fast.

What year is your Toyota?

Funny how different similar polroducts can be made. I have yet to use my vlb yet on leather because fibers felt so rough. The ninja scrubber pads fibers felt longer and softer compared to mine.
