so finally i get my shot at using xmt360 tomorrow lol.

here's the question(s)

1) my paint is in really good shape to start with so do i need to clay first before using the xmt360 or will the 360 clean for me?

2) the only pads i have as we speak are a meguiars polishing pad and a meguiars finishing pad. next ordered will be some lake country pads. so should i use the polishing pad i would assume orcould iuse the finishing pad? i know the polishing pad will cut better but does it really matter for light swirls?

3) once finished with the 360 i will use a paint sealant. i know the 360 seals but do i have to wait for the 360 to cure or no?

4) any pointers on using the 360 orisit pretty much as easy as described ie: work it in until it dissapears which will let me know it's broke down and then buff off?

btw, i'm using the megs g110 da. what speed should be best to work the 360? speed5?

thanks in advance.

1 - Personally, i don't clay my car when i'm planning on a full paint correction; on my customers' cars i do. But if i'm to do just an AIO, i would clay first.

2 - Yes, it will matter. I've tried that approach, for AIO with a correcting element it's best to use a polishing pad or a finishing pad with some cut. Go for the polishing pad as opposed to the finishing pad.

3 - I haven't personally tried this product, but i would assume you need to let it cure since it's an aio sealant.

4 - It says, no need to buff off. You just have to work it until it has dried and clear.

5 - Speed 5 sounds good, i just use speed 4 and 6 on my DA, but that's just my preference.

Others will surely throw their experience with 360. I also want to learn how to use this product.

thankyou.

just to clear things up, so clay or not?

and polishing pad or finishing pad? reason i am so curious because i know it leans to the polishing pad is my polishing pad is like 7.5 inches in diameter and my finishing pad is 6.5 in diameter. it's just easier to work a smaller pad and these are all i have on hand as we speak.

steps taken w/or w/out clay will be xmt360 followed by either danase or meguiars m21 paint sealant(any preferences?)then followed with one of my waxes ie: sigII, autoglym, max wax, that all depends on my mood i guess.

thank you in advance.

I would definitely clay with an AIO.

Oh my..that's a fairly large pad for a DA. I understand your dilemma. But i would still try the polishing pad first and see how it works. I just really keep the soft pads for LSP.

If i may suggest, why don't you just do an IPA after 360, so you can directly jump to either Danase or M21. Then the day after, you go top it with your choice of wax.

wouldn't i be able to go straight to danase or m21 right after seeings a sealant is a sealant? leaning more towards the danase due to it's instant cure time. had great results with it in the past.

even with the polishing pad being large(that was all my local shop had)it should still do a good job i would assume right? just covering a bigger area. i mean it's still a polishing pad right?

again, thank you for your fast responses.

To be honest, i am not sure of 360 as an instant cure, knowing sealants they need time to cure. The same reason why i would do an IPA since you plan to use a different sealant.

Yeah, it should still work, but the GG will have a hard time spinning it due to it's diameter. You might wanna move the speed to 6 with that pad size.

sounds good. i'll give it a spin in the am and hopefully post pics to this thread tomorrow night. if i was to do an ipa, i've heard of people using 70% isopropyl diluted in half with water? would that work?

and say i skip the clay, will that have any adverse effect?

Do the plastic bag test if it passes then you can skip claying. It actually depends on the state of your finish and the contaminants present. You'll get the hang of it.

Yes 50/50 with 70%IPA would work.
