Having been chosen as a winner in the Labor Day Giveaway I was fortunate to receive several product samples from the new Finish Kare line, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank AG and Maghan for their generosity. One of the conditions of the contest was to be willing to furnish the forum with a review with photos. The product that I am going to review is the FK 215 One step Cleaner and Surface Sealant.

Upon reading the the product information for the FK215 I learned that the product was intended to be used as a one-step solution for correcting mildly oxidized, dull paint. I than began to wonder how I could write a review for a product that is intended to correct a problem which I didn't have. The two cars which I have are both new 2009 garage queens which do not have mildly oxidized dull paint. In fact one of my cars the Porsche has just recently been sealed with two coats of Wolfgang dgps3.0 and topped off with two coats of Fuzion.
Other than becoming your friendly local detail fairy in NJ and offering to do someones needy daily driver my only candidate for the review would be my dark blue metallic 2009 Cadillac Escalade. Being a newbie I chose to use my Escalade for the review.

Not knowing what to expect from a product that seemed to be intended for use on a more weatherbeaten car than my garage queen I chose to apply the product by hand as opposed to using a machine. I also chose to do the application in the direct mid day sun. Just to see how much time you would have to work with the product in the worst of conditions. Please don't forget I am a newbie and that would be the type of thing a newbie would do ( how is that for realism?).

According to the product instructions it is a WODWO (wipe on dry wipe off). You are to use a small amount on a microfiber applicator (I used an amount about the size of a nickel) and work it in a circular motion on a 2" by 2" area. Well that seemed newbie proof and I proceeded to do my test panel fully expecting the product to dry on contact. To my surprise it didn't so i had to wait for the 215 to dry so that I could remove the dried haze with my plush purple microfiber towel. Being a member of the "now" generation waiting for things is not something that I do well. I thrive on instant gratification. Finally after about ninety seconds ( it seemed like an hour) it was ready to wipe off. I buffed so fast that my microfiber towel looked like a purple haze and than I started to slow down as the haze was lifted off of the paint and I was startled by what I saw. That two foot by two foot test panel glowed like a beacon in a dark blue metallic sea, beckoning me to do more. And I did. My Escalde started to take on the appearance of a huge patchwork quilt as each two foot by two foot section got lit up by this amazing product. When I was finished my Escalde glowed with the intensity of the sun and shimmered like water all at the same time. It was if the vehicle had come to life as it seemed to undulate with my every step as I walked around it to inspect what I had done.

If you like myself are an instant gratification junky your expectations will be exceeded by this product.

Good job and great review! I'd like to see this compared to the XMT 360.

I will be curious to see what kind of durability you get out of it.

Thanks for the review.

Yale and I seem to be on the same wavelength.
I was all set to order some XMT360 and now I don't know which to go with after this review.

The Finish Kare is priced lower, so that's something to be considered.

In the end though, for my purposes, I think whichever product has the more aggressive diminishing abrasives would win the decision for me.
I know neither one of these products features truly 'aggressive' swirl/oxidation removal/correction abrasives but since I'm just starting out with machine-assisted finish correction I wanna keep it conservative until I feel more comfortable (or find that after using the less aggressive correction product, I need something more aggressive).

I guess I'm looking for the paper tiger with the bigger claws ;)

Mike just did his Jimmy with XMT 360 hope he does a write up on it.....I need a AIO but I'm like you don't know which one...Leaning to the 360 because it's an AG product...?:dunno: But this FK215 looks like a nice product....Want to use it on my RV as well.

Check out poli-seal also form optimum if you want some correction use a white pad. I am also about to test it out with an orange pad as I just heard of people using org pads with an AIO. here is a test spot with poliseal + white pad by PC7424xp. I did 3 passes to buff the PS in. It disappears as you buff it into the paint... then just MF the panel to a shine.

You gotta know this cars paint was in very bad condition and not everythign was fixable by even a 2 step process. But I was impressed with the results for a AIO

Great review. Stop calling yourself a newbie, it ruins the validity of the review.

This surprises me? I'm a noob too and I think it adds to the review. #1 it shows that a person that does not have 5 years experience can get good results with a product. #2 it tells the people how hard the product is to use. (a Pro can do things with products that a noob can't). #3 It also takes away some of the criticism that others post when they don't total agree with the process because the poster gets cut some slack because we are noobs.

I think others want to know the experience level of the reviewer/poster. I'm going to put this question up to see what kind of response other give in it's own thread.

Great review Stu, you should be very happy with your results since you just jumped right in there and grabbed the bull by the horns. One of the few I have seen take some advice and go put it in use and figure things out on your own. Once again you are doing a great job buddy.:dblthumb2:

Nice review Stu,

That's a lot of real-estate to cover!

I resized this image and placed it into your gallery here on AG

Wow,
all of this controversy over being a nube. I am flattered and I am also proud of my nube-ism (HAHA). I am sorry that my sharing the fact that I am a nube ruined the validity of the review for a forum viewer. I can only state the facts as they are. Having only been involved in the detailing hobby for a few months I am a nube. I believe that there could be assumed an implied level of expertise of the reviewers level of experience if that level of experience is omitted. As there are so many nubes on the forum I felt that it would be useful writing the review through the eyes of a nube.

Thanks Dana and Mike Phillips for your kind words. I stand amongst giants with guys such as yourself, Mike Phillips and the many others that stood at the ready to lend support to me a nube just starting out.
Also,
Thanks Mike for putting the photo of my Escalade into my photo gallery. I didn't even realize that I had one. I will have to find it and check it out.:thankyousign::thankyousign:

Nice review ,Another good AIO is the Megs D151. It would be great if it was offered in smaller qty's for those that don't meed gallon's.But Xmt 360 is really sweet aswell
