I did a search and couldn't find my particular situation so here goes

I got super excited thinking about my brand new garage floor and getting in there after the house is finished while it is fresh and clean and putting down a coating with chips, epoxy or poly

Then I suddenly realized I would be parking cars in there with studded tires for at least 6 months out of the year and it occurred to me that any coating would probably get chewed up in short order

I know mats are an option but many folks on here have commented on how uncomfortable they are to kneel down on and I would also be worried about them collecting winter road sludge that includes some salt along with dirt and traffic film

Anyone out there with any experience with studded tires and crappy winters and protected garage floors?

All thoughts and suggestions welcomed

Thanks

100% recommend a Polyurea/Polyaspartic coating. Had mine done 2 years ago and LOVE it. However, it would likely get damaged from studded tires thus if you do it, during those months, I would put down some type of matt or wood or something to park on. It's resistant to say a tools falling, etc but studs I bet would be an issue. Here's a quick pic including a recent detail to keep it Detailng related. LOL.

I was thinking maybe using single mat sections in two rows spaced just right for the wheel width

Use carpet tape to hold them down maybe

Pull them up for the summer after the tires are changed

Lot of work but …

Stuff to think about

Sounds like a plan. FWIW, Penntek is the product they used in my garage. LOVE it. Find a good installer.
