Hi Everyone,

Here is a write up on the first Tesla i got to do some paint work on. It was definitely an experience as I encountered some issues I was not expecting. Nonetheless i got it done with the advice of a few (and very kind) fellow detailers, & it came out great! Thanks to those who i reached out to & were kind enough to give me some advice!

Few pics of the condition it was in before i got to work

Then i got to it. As always i started with the wheels.

Products used:
-CG Diablo
-Cg Grime Reaper
-LA's Totally Awesome Cleaner
-Hydro2

Tires were all sort of nasty

Rims weren't too bad

Once tires, rims, & wheel wells were cleaned. Rims got some Hydro lovin' !

Next, Exterior plastics, Door jambs, & all Crevices got some attention.

-CG Grime Reaper
-Misc. Brushes

Now to the paint work. Here is where i encountered issues. I got the entire end done no problem. However once i moved on, nothing was working. Anything i threw at it became nearly impossible to remove. I dirtied all my towels & pads & was at the end of my wits. I then talked to a few friends & got all sorts of advice, which i really appreciate!!

Due to the craziness i was going through , pics were the last thing on my mind & had just a few.

The finished product!
It got some Hrydro2 on paint & glass. All plastics were treated with Black Wow Pro.

Thanks for looking!!
Without a doubt this car taught me some new stuff, took me double what i expected but it came out saweeeeeet!!;)

Great work! I use 205 and Meg's MF finishing pads works great on this paint. This was the advice of Evan from Premier auto detailing.

Great work :xyxthumbs:

So what was the problem and how did you rectify it?

The results are "shocking", sorry, I couldn't resist! That must've been a pleasure to work on, big car with great lines, good job!

Great job and thanks for taking the time to post your work! Side bar...what's your method for cleaning the jams withouth spraying the interior?-- sheeting the water instead of using a nozzel?

Looks great.

Everyone is different, but I've had success with all these on my Tesla:

FG400
IP1500
FF3000
SF4000
m105/205

Those have all worked well in various combinations for various problems I've encountered with mine. A lot of the very fine swirls are treated easily with m205 or SF4000. I feel like the Rupes did a better job than my GG.

All work has been done with LC CCS pads, including the hybrid foam pad.

Piece of advice re: the Tesla. Make sure your PTG is calibrated for nonferrous metal, and be sure to measure the bottom half of the doors and quarter panels where the paint is very thin. My hood, roof and upper panels measure between 100 and 130 microns, whereas some of my lower panels range from 50 to 70 microns.

x3 - inquiring detailers would like to know!

Nice cleanup... :props:

x4 - Definitely interested

Paint seemed to be sticky on everything besides the front end, i'm assuming sue to the ambient weather at the time. It was up in a bit of a mountain.

Hd Cut & Polish did the trick next day for the most part but were still a bit hard to remove.

I warmed up some water, & put a few MFs in there to ease the removing of the residue( a tip from Javier of Ecosolutions). Sprayed IPA & a bit of Detail spray for added lubricity to remove the grunt of the residue with one of the MFs soaked in warm water (just moist not dripping wet). Anything left behind I removed with a second wash.

Haha! It sure was, one great looking car for sure! thanks!

Thanks! I spray some APC using a foam trigger, then use brushes. I power off my electric pressure washer & use it with or without the nozzle as I need. Some areas are easier with the nozzle shooting a fan, & others with the nozzle off & a slow stream of water. Since its off neither create any splash back (not sure if that's the actual term lol).
