i am purchasing the PC package with the 5.5" pads, i have read for hours on different products to use and techniques. ii have narrowed my product to meg's mirror glaze 105/205 compund and polish and meg's 2.0 paint sealant. i have always been a meg's guy and i like theyre products. i have some intermediate and maybe somewhat severe scratches on my hood. i have billions of swirls and holograms throughout the paint. i thought about the wolfgangs package with the total swirl remover and glaze and paint sealant 3.0 but didnt think it would be aggressive enough. Do yall think i will be safe with the megs combo with orance CCS pads(5.5") and PC?

Thanks!

Meguiar's 105/205 is a great combo. Many people here use it because it gets the job done. get orange pads for 105 and white for 205. 5.5inch pads are amazing and will get almost anything done. Make sure you get 5 inch back plate.

I'm itching to find 105/205 right now. I started with the pinnacle advance swirl remover and pinnacle finishing compound

Thanks for the input guys! i just needed that extra opinion to lock mine down. So the flat LC pads are better than the regular LC pads?

Did this swirl remover get the job done because i have read alot about it not removing the imperfections?

What LC pad should i use to spread the finishing glaze(XMT) and then the megs paint sealant 2.0?

I don't use OTC products so my answer would not be accurate. I'm sorry I have failed you on this occasion. I will try harder next time, I promise :bolt:

Get the LC flat 5.5 inch ones. The work time is a lot quicker. And the blue pads for glaze and sealant, the blue pads has no cutting power. Good for apply wax aslo.

Your going to find a bunch of different opinions on what compounds to use. I'd say definitely Megs 105/205 should be on your list. The pinnicale series, maybe some wolfgang. The menz polishes are good too.

I'd start with the 105/205 combo. They are much cheaper than the others and will give you what your looking for.

You should also get the Griots 6". With the extra horsepower and lifetime warranty, it should be a no brainer to anyone considering purchasing a DA IMO

(Richard, I'm serious about that devidend check)

The Wolfgang Twins are a nice product and easier to use than M105. FG3.0 leaves a wonderful finish. M105 will remove the swirls and scratches easier and faster, so the 105/205 combo may be a better choice. You will be safe with the Megs. Just look up the Kevin Brown method within this forum and read about the method. It should make use of M105 easier for you, and it's really not all that hard to use anyway. Make sure you also follow Mike P's basics on pad cleaning (on the fly method).

5.5" orange for cutting
5.5" white for polishing
5.5" blue for glazes
either red or blue 5.5" for sealants and waxes.
Blue might be better for cleaner waxes.
Use separate red or blue pads for sealants and for waxes. You don't want wax residue messing up your sealant bonding.

The Lake Country Hydro Tech pads (cyan and tangerine) have a pretty strong following on the forum and might have a little more cut than orange and white pads. You can use their Crimson for sealants and glazes as another option.

Clean pads cut much easier than polish soaked pads. I normally use a minimum of 3-4 orange pads and 2-3 whites per car, and more for a large truck or for paint that is in really bad condition. A rule of thumb is a clean pad (or washed pad) every major section on the vehicle (hood, trunk, roof, each side). Mike suggested expanding each side to every side door (driver + passenger) and quarter panel (front + back) on each side as it will cut faster and speed correction. More pads is better...

I have no problems getting rid of the swirls and micromarring. I get the occasional RIDS and tracers. But it feels like I am working harder than I should. I've read that the m105 and m205 has a better cut than the pinnacle
