I recently order the PC7424,also some pads.

I have no experience at all using DA or any machine, so i had a left over fender, i practiced on. It had (i would say minor swirls).
Drawing a line on the backing plate was a HUGE help, sometimes i noticed it wasn't spinning and i felt like i wasn't putting much pressure on it. very good tip:props:

Process:
Washed and clayed with ONR
XMT#2/LC White pad

I think all the watching and reading did some good.

Just wanted to show some pictures and get some comments on how the work is.

What a difference! Now i really can't wait for mine to arrive via UPS tomorrow. Im in California so its shipping across the country!
:goodpost::goodjob2::cool pics:

Looks good, In your 50/50 shots there looks to still be some of the deeper swirls left. You might give a try to using the same product but stepping up to an Orange pad, then go to a lighter polish on the white. The number of passes will depend on results. Use an IPA wipe between products and pads VS. passes to inspect your work.

Your work is looking good and for a first time it's awesome! I wish my first attempt would have turned out that nice!:buffing:

Are there deeper swirls left?? which picture are you looking at??
I made about 4-6 section passes about 3 times of XMT#2/White pad

I haven't looked at it in direct sunlight yet, i was kinda hesitant on going more aggressive. Don't wanna go tooo aggressive.

Also, instead of going orange, what if i just used white pad with XMT#3 or TSR??

Thanks bucks

I think he is referring to the first picture of the 50/50 shot, some of the deeper scratches are left on the buffed side

I would step to a more aggressive pad with the #2 before I would go to a more aggressive polish. But you may get a different opinion. Remember to do a test spot on any car you attempt. I like the Wolfgang TSR it's my goto polish. I'm not sure how the TSR compares to the XMT products, I've never used XMT line of polishes other than a sample of #3. Hope this helps.

First of all thank you.

Alright, i might give #2/orange pad a try.

Just a question, why would you change pads before changing products? any reason behind it specifically?

I did little test spot and it seemed good, but theres always some worse spots.

Was the #3 pretty aggressive in your opinion when you used it?

Happy to help where I can.

The only reason to go Orange is I think the pad is a less aggressive than the polish but I'm not sure. You may end up @ Orange and #3?

The #3 wasn't super aggressive, about the same as WG TSR but I feel the WG TSR finishes A LOT BETTER. Here is a polish chart that shows you the aggressiveness of polishes Autogeek Swirl Removers & Compounds Comparison Chart

Alrighty, i saved that link.

I will have to see, maybe use TSR/white or #2/white. Have not tried TSR yet.

have some options...ty

Well done. I guess you just need to lessen the amount of clay you use next time, just to avoid unnecessary wastage. It's too much for a fender. I would say the amont you had in your hand is good for half, if not your entire car. :)

Definately, definately go with a 5.5" orange LC pad with the #2 XMT polish. If that isn't aggressive enough, XMT offers #3 & #4, #4 being a compound. #2 with a white pad will remove very fine swirls.

A white LC pad with #2 is perfectly fine for finishing :xyxthumbs:

Btw...good show :xyxthumbs:

Someone's been paying attention in class! :props:

A little more time with something like Meguiar's M105 or Menzerna Power Gloss and an Orange pad will make those scratches disappear. Switch to Meguiar's M205 or Menzerna Power Finish PO203 and a White pad and finish polish.

For a first attempt on a practice fender I think you did a great job and now you have some real hands on experience for your next project! :props:
