Hello forum!
I've been lurking here for a couple of months, pretty much since I got a new-to-me vehicle at the end of November. It is a 2009 Honda Element. I used to detail my cars way back when; I have had an '89 Maxima and a '96 ES300 before. But I haven't done it in a long time, and my, how things have changed. I learned from books I bought years ago, and while most of the techniques are the same, the chemicals have gotten a lot more sophisticated. There were no DA polishers either, at least when I first learned...only rotary and orbital buffers (which I guess are now known as "wax spreaders").
I came to AG when I was looking around to get a new kit of supplies. I cut my teeth on Meguiar's Mirror Glaze system, and before I really did any research, I bought a bunch of Meguiar's Detailers and Ultimate products here. But now after reading, I want to try all kinds of new stuff. I already got the Tuf Shine tire kit, but I haven't been able to apply it because it has been too cold. In the meantime, I am using Pinnacle Black Onyx (which IMO is okay). At some point in the future, I want to try a coating; PolishAngel Cosmic has me intrigued.
I remember years ago I tried claying, but for whatever reason I did not like it. Probably because I didn't know how to use it properly. Today I gave it another try, so really this was my first time claying. WOW, what a difference. My car's surface wasn't bad, but it is definitely smoother, and it removed some visible contaminants too.
I better stop...too long an intro! I will leave you a couple of shots of my ride, and who I really got it for:
