first time working on paint protection film

So I will be working shortly on a new BMW M3 with full front clip PPF, is there anything I should be careful with?

I plan on doing an Ironx decon, fine clay bar, then seal it up with DG105/601

Tape the edges if there are any. Work from bra to paint not paint to bra.

Be careful not to over great the ppf I use fg400 on a flex 3401 and it can get most swirls and scratches out of clear braView attachment 31092

It is NOT "just like paint".

I have only worked on 3M stuff and it was very soft, deeper defects can be lessens, but not removed, bringing back the clarity can be challenging

Your biggest question should be what kind of film and what grade of film is it?

Not all film is the same and not all films should be treated the same.

Don't use IronX on the film.

PPF film is not as delicate as many claim BUT it is porous so if you happen to use a solvent to remove something on the film, say tar, with a colored microfiber towel the color from the towel can be transferred to the PPF and stain it.

Perhaps the most common issue with PPF and detailers is sloppy polish/wax work. They cake up the edges with product, lift edges or burn them with buffers.

A mild polish, like FP4500 and a finishing pad/polishing pad is all I use on them. Remove excess and spritz with a spray of Opti-Seal.

Tape your edges......but first clean them. Cotton swab with IPA solution.
