FK1000p and Collonite 845

I have both in my possession. For a black daily driver that is parked 8-10 hours uncovered in NorCal heat & rain, what would you suggest?

Option1: FK1000p
Option2: Collonite 845
Option3: FK1000p as sealant, topped with 845 (does 845 bond well to fk1000p?)

Again, remember, that car is parked 8-10 hours EVERYDAY (well, Monday thru Friday) uncovered, exposed to direct sunlight, heat, and/or rain.

If you suggest FK1000p, any tips on how to apply it? I have the 7424XP polisher.. but FK1000p seems like a hard rock!

Collonite 845 seems friendly to apply & remove, especially after reading the "Definitive how-to Guide for Collonite 845" thread.
 
I've used the FK1000 and I love it. It applies and removes super easy. I think using both would be a very durable solution for ya. I have a 3" griots polisher and I use it with a finishing pad to apply the FK. The 4 inch pad fits perfectly in the tin and a little really goes a long way.
 
Thanks. With the 3" or 4" pads, have you found it easy to transfer the wax to the pad? Or do you prime the pad with a QD spray before rubbing the pad in the tin?

I have never used FK1000p, but it looks unusually hard! I want to try the fk1000p and 845 combo if they layer well.. Is ~15 hours enough cure time before applying 845 on top?
 
No, I usually just put the pad in the tin and rub it in a little bit. Sometimes I'll kick the buffer on for a second to transfer the wax to the pad. Doing it this way I use so little of the product that I foresee 30-40 applications out of the tinful. Awesome value! I'm not sure what FK suggests but I'm sure at least a couple of hours would be fine before applying the 845. Somebody else probably has better insight on this.

I like this sealant. It may not be outstanding in any characteristic, except maybe water sheeting and dirt releasing property, but a bang for a buck product. If I remember it correctly, Finish Kare claims that FK1000P cures after 30 minutes. However, users differ in their findings. Some say stick to the usual 12-24 hours cure time for sealants while others say wait at least three days. They say that the real appearance of FK1000P manifest after three days. I know one person who waits for at least a week because his experience was layering it sooner will result to what he calls "pseudo-holograms".
 
I've never used Finish Kare 1000p. Collinite 845 is quite a product with a long standing reputation for ease of use, gloss, durability, and for $15.00 why would you not have some on your shelf?
 
I'd use the FK1000P, leave it for a day, and then apply the 845. Or you can just apply 845 after the next wash :)
 
Thanks everyone for the replies! I will try leaving fk1000p for 12-15 hours and then top it with 845.
If that does not work, next time, I will either let it stay longer, or just apply 845.
 
used that combo a couple years ago for winter and the fk and the whole line is really underrated.good choices
 
I never topped 1000p with anything but FK 425 and it last forever it seems. I really think the 845 is overkill just give the 1000p a chance and I think you will like it as bird droppings and dirt will clean right off and if you top it with 845 you will lose some of the best highlights of the product.

Thanks. I received an almost similar feedback from another forum member on Autopia. I think I will top off with another layer of FK1000p instead of topping with 845 (I don't have FK425) based on that feedback. I had heard amazing things about #845 so I thought it will make a good product to top on FK1000p, like the OP thought.
 
Just use the 1000P you will not be let down. If you find that you are having a problem loading it on the pad let it sit in the sun a little bit and it will soften right up.

I bought FK1000P and 845 to be my "durable pair" but I have yet to top FK1000P with 845. I was more satisfied with FK1000P than 845. 845 for me is OK but the gloss, water sheeting and dirt releasing of FK1000P are better. Maybe I am not impress with 845 because I didn't give its best quality a chance. An OCD replaces or re-applies an LSP often than he should. :D Still, it doesn't chance the fact that 845 is a bang for a buck and delivers, as proven by others.
 
I put fk1000p on my wheels after DG501/601 combo.
I haven't try the pink wax yet.

How was it? Does layering FK1000P over another sealant really works? I still can't digest the claim that it bonds on other sealants and be an exception to the general rule. But maybe there is some truth to it because bonding issues are not being brought up when people recommend or actually apply wowo spray sealants/hybrid on top of sealants or even waxes.
