Hey guys:
What is the lifespan of Flex 3401 VRG carbon brushes (Working hours)? Anyone have experience with this topic? flexnorthamerica.com online customer support do not gave me the answer. I live abroad, in the country (Colombia) where I live there is not a Flex representative and I must have a backup of carbon brushes before it wear down.

Like Steve said you should be able to get quite a few hours of use from the brushes before replacement.

How often are you using the machine? As a hobby, weekend warrior, part time, full time etc?

I was more of a weekend/part time user going on two years without any issues with the brushes.

If I was in your predicament, I'd order a complete set of brushes (or two)
before they even think about wearing out!

This is going to be a very amateur question but what do the carbon brushes do? I've read about them many times but never understood what they do, when to replace them, or how...

when electricity go tru the carbon brushes , it creates an magnetic field that moves the rotor inside the machine ...
is been 10+ years since i study electricity so i may be mistaken...
i guess they wear out in time , due the electric arc
