Hey guys, new here sorry if this has been compared before but doing a search with such specific part numbers/names was a bit of a pain. Anyway I am in the market to buy a rotary buffer, I can get a great deal on the DeWalt Unit however AG seems to be really pushing the new Flex unit. Any realy upsides to getting the Flex Unit over the DeWalt? What feature does one have over the other? I was reading the specs and they are pretty comparable but I have never bought a rotary polisher, only used DA's. Is the Flex Unit really worth the extra $200???

And yes before anyone says "becareful don't burn the paint!" I have a ton of junky cars to cut my teeth on :xyxthumbs:

The Flex is a Germany quality machine. Very well made, therefore the higher price. I don't see many advantages it has over the DeWalt but I am no expert on this. The Flex is lighter than the DeWalt but the new 849X is lighter than its older model.

Also burning the paint isn't the only damage a rotary buffer can do. So be careful!

Mike Phillips did a very comprehensive review of the DeWalt DWP849X making several comparison to the Flex PE14-2-150.

Thank you very much. I guess I overlooked that video :(

I don't think you can look at the two machines on paper. If you listen to the gear noise of the two, the Flex has essentially none. It has a great feel and it feels significantly lighter and easier to handle. Having gotten to use both of these machines at the 101 class this month, I did not find the decision that difficult. Maybe it was my inexperience but I could not keep the DW from walking all over the place. The Flex handled like a dream. My vote is the Flex. And that is what I bought.

Ahhhh I tried justifying the Flex but I found a great deal on the DeWalt that came with the bag, gloves, and wool pad for under $190.

I almost bit the bullet on the Flex but a near $200 price jump is too much for me at the moment. Hopefully there will be a sale on these things in the future (maybe Christmas??) and I'll snatch one up then!
