Flex Xc 3401 vs porter cable

If you're detailing cars for money, then the Flex 3401 wins hands down.

Why? Forced rotation means more power to get the machine correction, polishing and protecting steps done faster plus as long as you're using quality products and pads you won't leave any swirls or burn any paint.

If you're just detailing your own cars and time is not an issue then either tool will get the job done the PC "style" will just take longer than any forced rotation "type" tool.

There is almost no comparison between the two.

The Flex 3401 is a larger more powerful machine and incorporates forced rotation. It easily handles 6 1/2" pads and because of its design will correct more paint faster.

The Porter Cable 7424 was the first dual action polisher on the market, I believe 12 years before Meguiar's released its own version. 5 1/2" diameter pads should be the standard with this machine and it does not incorporate forced rotation which means you have to keep an eye on the rotation.

The porter Cable 7424 is smaller, lighter, easier to maneuver and is about 1/3 the price of the Flex 3401...

Hey Bobby, I've checked the specs and the 7424xp & 3401 weigh exactly the same. Different footprint of course but both weigh 5.75 lbs.

The weight on the flex is distributed on a longer tool. Flex is a real good tool. Less vibration on your hands

Porter Cable does not stand behing their products. They should take a look at forums like AG.
