I've been reading some various posts and articles that occasionally mention storing foam pads. However, it isn't specifically described what the best practice is.

I assume once they are clean and dry I can put them all together in a storage container (like the Rubbermaid or Sterilite products). I like to keep my things organized and this seemed like the best solution to put all my pads in one spot and away from other contaminants.

I've been seeing comments about putting them in ziploc bags or baggies, but I don't understand why you would want to do that. Can you more experienced guys help clarify what is good practice?

You can store them anywhere you want, any way you want, as long as they don't get dirt or dust on them (that will ruin your day next time you use them). Putting them into Rubbermade/Sterilite plastic containers is fine, but they won't fit into the detailer bags that are used by some mobile detailers. It all depends on your use case.

I actually use both methods. I store some in plastic bins and others in zip lock bags that are not sealed 100% tight, so can breathe to help prevent mold. Those in a zip lock back go into my garage entertainment cabinet that has a full size pull out that hold 25+ vcr tapes which are perfect for buffing pads. Kind of shows my age, but its ideal storage. Just pull out the cabinet drawer and I have easy access to the pads which are stored by size & type/color.

I keep mine in a small tote. (I only have around 30 as I just do mine and the wife's rides).

I have a towel on the bottom, and I store them face to face. (I don't have a reason for this other than my own OCD). Lol

This is how we do it... basement and this...

i store mine a snap lid tote and if you're going to put them in a plastic/ziploc bag, buy a hole puncher and punch a few holes so it can breath...

What pattern for the holes, Allen?

Smiley face or your initials? :P

a few holes around the top /corners (a little higher than where the pad sits on the bottom of the bag) should suffice... ;p

My new, unused pads, applicators, and Microfiber towels are stored in Sterite gasket boxes.

Pads that are in use stay in a Stanley FatMax rolling work station.

Thanks for all the feedback. Looks like I'll stick with storing the pads in a Sterilite container once they are clean and dry.
