Hi All,
I do realize that its the start of winter here in the north but I'm already looking toward spring and another season of detailing my 3 cars. one car does not go out in the snowy, slushy, salty weather. the other 2 cars are daily drives they are run through a car wash about every 2 weeks or so depending how much bad weather there is. All cars have 2 coats of klasse and 1 coat of Pinnacle XMT wax on them. the question is; When the weather warms up should I strip off all the wax and klasse and start again or just wash the car my self and then put 2 coats of klasse and wax over the top of whats on the cars?
Thanks,
Mike

I would hand wash the car again and make sure to strip all the old wax. If you run your cars through a wash that often, there's definitely going to be paint damage. I would just start from scratch man...that's going to give you the best results, and more importantly, protection.

the first detail of the year i always do a dawn wash then clay and then a regular wash. and to make sure all of the wax is gone i use a paint cleaner after all that so i can start 100% fresh. as far as i know its al the way striped.

It reads like you might have a garage. If you do, you might get a chance to add a little heat to your garage on one of the warmer winter days and do another application of your LSP. I'm usually able to do that a few times during the winter. If you can only apply one of the spray waxes, it's better than nothing.
As far as starting over, I guess that depends a little on just what starting over means to a person.
In the spring, I use a cleaner/polish to prep my paint and remove most of the winter marring. I might have to use something more aggressive in a few places, but very few.
For a cleaner polish, I use several depending on my mood.
Optimum Poli-Seal
Poorboy's Polish with Sealant
Duragloss #501
Meguiar's #80
Those seem to take care of most of my winter scuffs.
For the few areas they don't take care of, I use either Poorboy's 2.5 or Meguiar's #83.
I think the cleaner/polishes remove the previous applications of product and allow a more or less fresh start.

Spring ---- heck 2008 is still here for a week. (smiles)

wash -- clay -- polish -- protect , no matter the season !
