is anyone familiar with Ford paint?
In regards to how hard it is or isn't?

I'm having a bit of difficulty removing some deeper swirls and scratches from a 2010 Mustang GT Premium (black).

I'm using megs 105 and 205 with LC Flat yellow and orange pads.
down force, arm speed and product are fine.

just wondering if Ford paint is particularly hard.

I find it's medium soft, mines an 06. What polisher and speed are you set at?
 
Just an fyi, best combo for our paint that I prefer is Wolfgang Uber & Wolfgang Finsihing Glaze. In fact, After WG Uber, paint is pretty much LSP ready...nothing against M105/M205 which is what I started out with, I find WG finishes so much better!
 
2003 models had a very hard clear. Chips really easily. I had 2 2003 Mach 1's & they were both a bear to correct. I did an 03 Cobra last year, same story. Other than 03 models I've always found Ford clear to be easy to work with.
 
I did a 2007 Mustang in red last summer and it hard really hard clear. I had to work at it for quite some time before I got the results that I was looking for.
 
I haven't found much that the twins can't handle (105/205). Yellow pad and 105 is about as aggressive as it gets with foam. If the clear is soft that combination will induce swirls not remove them. I too would like to know what buffer your using.

I have found most Fords to have hard clear but that's not always the case with factory paint. You might also run into panels that have been repainted as well. Vary product and pads on a test area is the best recommendation til you find what works.

Then there is always the rotary and wool pads!!!
 
I love the colour, but my grabber blue paint is a real pain in the rear to work with. It seems to mar with the lightest touch of even the best microfiber, and I cannot seem to take out the RIDS using anything I have. They are not deep enough to catch a nail on, but I can't seem to correct them out, and I don't want to try wet sanding this car yet.

I have used the 101/205 on a Rupes 15 with their microfiber pads, as well as trying a MG Microfiber cutting disk with D300. It smooths out the ridges, but won't take out the mark. Frustrating paint.

Have you tried FG400?
 
I have not. I usually stick with Megs products for my compounding and polishing just because I'm familiar with it. Will probably try out some of the HD stuff on my next order though

Must be color dependant cause my oxford white FST is on the hard side...as was my 2013 oxford white F150...the wifes 2013 flex, which is some type of metalic grey is hard as a rock. My mother in law's and sister in laws ford's (09 metalic blue edge and 09 black focus) are on the softer side, esp the edge.
 
Might I suggest trying Menzerna. I use Menzerna FG400 and Menzerna SF4500. In fact I used SF4500 last night. IMO, that combo should solve your issues. I only use Menzerna as my Correction/Polishing arsenal. I recently donated my Megs 105/205 because Menzerna IMO is a superior product.

I have heard Wolfgang is similar to Menzerna as they have some type of relationship on some products....but do not quote me on that.

Get FG400 and I would bet all your issues will be solved. I didn't believe the hype at 1st, however, after using FG400 I never looked back. It is incredible stuff!!
