Customer dropped his GTR off last night to get it cleaned up. Been 8 months since the last time I was able to do anything major to this car and in that time it has been on multiple road courses with many wipe downs during. Customer knew that it was pointless getting full paint correction as it gets tracked often, so he wanted to look as good as it can without having to go to that extent. Settled on my Two-Step Polish Package to clean the paint up.

Process:
Wash - CG Citrous Wash'n'Gloss via Foam Gun & TBM
Rims/Tires - Diablo Wheel Gel
Clayed w/ Pinn. Ultra Poly Clay w/ ONR lube

Buffing:
3m Automotive Tape
SIP w/ Tangerine Hydro Tech Pad via GG DA
Ultrafina w/ LC Black via GG DA

LSP:
1st Coat - Jetseal109
2nd Coat -Blackfire

Rims LSP:
CG Wheel Guard

Windows:
Stoners Invisible Glass

Tires:
CG Natural Dressing

Test area...paint was a tad faded. If you notice there is a line running down through the light reflection. Left side(before) right side (after).

*Interesting side note*

One big thing out there about these cars is the paint. I have worked on many of these cars and figured this one had enough swirls to do a quick test to get some pictures of.

Took a small area and only buffed it with a LC Black Pad and Ultrafina. Using my GG DA at Speed 6 with little to no pressure. Just worked it into the paint with about 5-6 section passes. Nissan claims that the GTR is a "hard clear" as shown below.

Now as you will see from this test area. Here is what it looked like before...

Notice there are still some deep rids still left. But just from a very fine polish, a very minimal cut pad and no KBM style buffing and you still get moderate correction. These paints are very soft. As I was wiping off the SIP in a lot of the areas I was leaving Towel Scratches behind. Which luckly Ultrafina cleaned up and comes off easy enough with no effort to not leave any behind.

Just figured I would post this up for those that might work on these cars. The buffing process is a bit different as in the more heat you put into the paint, the bigger a pain it becomes.

Great job on the GT-R! I'm actually in the process of doing a 2009 red GT-R right now. I finished polishing it tonight and am going to seal it with Opti Coat (the original) tomorrow. You might want to suggest this to your customer. It would go a long way to protect that soft paint. I absolutely loved working on the paint on this car. You could chase and correct every tiny scratch...the paint is like butter!

Looks incredible! Nice job! :xyxthumbs:

Interesting note about the "Hard Clear".........

Great job! :props: Even with the light amount of correction you did it still looks like you spent hours on end.

Awesome job! Your reflection shots are great!

That's an awesome car too!

I drove one once, but right after I avoided the roadblock I came on a curve doing 150 and smashed it into a guardrail. Cops got me!

I loved that car.

GTR my favorite car!! Nice work.

Richy post some pictures of the red one you are doing!
