So I hate gas station car washes, the ones that whack and swirl your car with those rock filled brushes are just as bad as the touchless ones that use heavy detergents to strip your paint clean, removing all LSPs.

But I saw this German one (i think) and was blown by how awesome it was!

If you owned an automall, having one of these would be a time saver!

I stay away from those, especially with those types of rubber brushes. I was in Dallas on business for a weekend, but changes were made and I ended up staying for a month. My car was super filthy and I didn't take any cleaning supplies so I went to one exactly like this, everything was good until I noticed how thick and hard those rubber brushes were. It felt like there was a group of hoodlums with broomsticks beating my car from all sides. After I exited I immediately got out to check my paint and there were small scuffs and scratches on the hood, doors, and trunk. If I have to use any kind of drive thru its a touchless wash only, it may strip the lsp but Id rather just reapply lsp than do a 4 hour correction and reapply lsp.

Christ! Literally! That's awesome engineering, but it's a swirlomatic on steroids!

I would like to see a perfectly polished black car make a trip through that and see what it looked like afterwards.

There were only two parts that didn't make my cringe, the air dryer and the vacuum station. The rest was painful to watch.

Never seen an automated where two (car) wheels are stationary and two rotate. Most have a roller that pops up on the drivers side and pushes the rear tire down a set of rails. Ran and did maintenance on an automated briefly while in high school.

The thing must be a mile long, looks great with excellent engineering. All that money and they can't get somebody to sweep up the 5 inches of dirt on the pavers especially after you come out with a clean car. Good video thanks for sharing.:cruisin:

I found it thoroughly amusing that after the wash he pulls into a parking space with a "label" in front of it made of graffiti that says "Rehab". (because that's what anything that goes through there is going to need!)

Now what if you had that same technology with microfiber brushes? That car wash did cover every inch of it.

Useless without a way to wash the brushes between each use. It's not just the material, but the dirt trapped in it from each car that goes through.

I dont trust anything that touches a finish in that way, sorry ...

What you have to remember with this is:
As autogeeks and detailers, we make up less than 1% population in the sense of how we care about swirls and what touches our paint. I freak out when someone touches my car!

From a business perspective, this is a huge investment. Having the "hot wax" and "polish" makes customers happy and light cars come out looking awesome (to the average person). Plus a car wash like this could easily ring into the $10,000,000+ range accounting for land.

From an engineering perspective you really have to respect and enjoy the shear amount of technology in this place!

I posted this because I have always had a fascination with how things work and stuff like this lol

I've seen car antennas ripped off cars, then get stuck in the wrap-around brushes, then beat the hell out of the next car in line!

The automated wash I ran back in the mid 70's had the "HOT WAX" treatment for IIRC 75 cents. What the customer didn't know was EVERY car got the spray wax mixed in the rinse water. This was so the blowers could roll off the beaded water mix efficiently to prevent water spots. I'd press a button for the hot wax and all the customer got extra... was to see the red light flashing "HOT WAX BEING APPLIED" for their 75 cents.

I remember pointing up to the mirror so the customer could see to steer between the conveyer rails. I'd take there tickets "Thank You - Please Put Your Car In Neutral - No Brakes - No Steering" The best thing about running an automated wash... you meet some pretty hot babes... I'd give them free "HOT WAXES" :D

What, all that equipment and NO Brinkmann ?? :buffing:

I'd love to see what that looks like

Think of it as an opportunity to detail. I wonder why those wheel scrubber brushes locate the wheel and not accidentally get on the paint.
