just wondering if you have ever had this issue.
I cut this white gel coat with my rotary, electrified wool, and marine 31 heavy cut. Then trying to finish it out with my flex 3401 orange ccs pad and Marine 31 gloss and color restorer. After I finish with the flex its leaving the surface a little hazy

Maybe go back to a regular cutting wool pad, then the 3401.I don't have much experience in marine 31 restore.

Or maybe the initial cut was to agressive and really scoured the gelcoat.is it colored gelcoat if so try using the 3401 only with marine 31.Gel coat can get weird on you.It deosnt like high heat and causes matting.

Sorry saw white gelcoat.see if the 3401 with marine will do.

Or the marine 31 is not getting rid of the heavey cut compound with the flex and color restore, therefore not able to get a finished down look.

As Jeff stated, you may need to use something more aggressive than the Gloss and Color Restore to remove the marks left from the compounding step. Try Marine 31 One Step Compound Polish with the Flex and your orange CCS pad. If that doesn't do it, try a more aggressive pad like a UHS pad.

What I've always noticed is gel-coat doesn't like soft foam pads except if you're ALL DONE with any abrading step and all you're doing is applying a NON cleaning wax like the Marine 31 Gel-Coat Carnauba Wax + Sealant.

So for all other steps, stick with wool pads or foam cutting pads.

I have also found the RUPES blue foam cutting pad to finish out to show car results on both the RUPES polishers and even the FLEX 3401.

Not sure how far along you are with this process but just like cars... before buffing out an ENTIRE boat. Do a TEST SPOT. Dial in a process that makes one small section of the gel-coat look GREAT! Then simply duplicate this same process over the rest of the boat.

I teach this in all by boat detailing classes as well as my boat detailing how-to book.

Paperback book - How To Detail Boats With Marine 31 by Mike Phillips

In the above how-to book I show how to use the complete Marine 31 line and all the techniques I show will work with ANY qualityy brand of products. I will say that for my time, energy and money I would buff out a boat with the Captain's Compound as it's a compound/polish in one product and eliminates the need for a compound, a medium cut polish and a fine cut polish. It's also what we used to put a show car finish on the 1960 Glastron we sanded and buffed out for John Greviskis.

AMAZING results.
