I've been using a PC for about a year now and haven't really noticed much difference in pad selection. In fact, aside from incredible gloss, I haven't noticed much correction capability at all with a DA unless you have all day. Now that I've purchased a rotary, I'm wondering what, exactly, it is about different pads (Foam) that makes them cut. The consistency, or density, seems to go from stiff to soft throughout the line. I.E. White is soft, Orange stiffer, Green soft, Yellow stiffer again. So, is it the cell size that makes the cut more or less, or the combination? Anyone know?

Combination, also depends on brand.

It's the combination... bottom line is, the more abrasive the material, the more "cut" there will be. Just like sandpaper, rub the bad across your skin, the pads with more cut will feel rougher.
