George Kennedy. We Lost Another One.

Yeah, I didn't know about the Army part, either, it seems like some others (Lee Irmey, Dale Dye) he was a technical advisor who wound up getting into acting, although I may have read into that more than their was.

I think my favorite movie of his was Brass Target, great underrated WWII movie with an all-star cast.
 
Yes, sadly they are dropping like flies. I also did not know of his service in the Army.
 
He was a great character actor and did not seem to take himself so seriously like many actors. I remember him in the movie Airport and the Dirty Dozen although he should played one of the dozen.
 
Big Man...Big Loss.

As good as he was on the big screen...
His appearances, in seemingly hundreds
of TV roles, were just as outstanding!
