New guy here with a question,

I just got my Mugen exhaust on but the muffler has some scratches on it:

What is the best method to get these scratches off? I already used Meguiar's all metal polish and it just shined it up pretty nicely:

So what do you guys recommend?

Nice to see a fellow 8th guy here, Im also new to this forum, good luck with the exhaust it'll look great when your done.

stainless is some pretty hard stuff . I have some stainless door pillar trim that had scratches in it . upon bobby g advice I used menzerna power gloss on a surbuff pad . now this is a pretty heavy cut combo for paint u can substitute what u may have . it cleaned up the scratches very well but was not as shiny as it could be so I went over with a finer polish and a foam pad then and turned out great . this is will turn your pads black . then apply your lsp .

Thanks for your advise. But would you mind telllng me what lsp is ? Still kinda new to the detailing world.

Believe it or not I was able to remove polishing swirls from stainless tips using Meguiar's D300 and a mf towel (didn't have polisher with me). The deeper stuff doesn't come out but swirls do. You can follow up with a finer polish or even a metal polish to enhance the shine.

No kidding? I wouldn't have thought of using that.

I used Menzerna SIP once and it worked but I felt like it clouded up the finish too much and I had to work harder to get the clarity and bling back. I may not have been aggressive enough after using SIP though.

From my perspective, the scratches look pretty deep. Don't wanna do more harm than good.
Best of luck.

All right, thanks for the tips.

Yeah they look deep but hopefully something will work.

Hopefully I still have the pictures saved, I'll check when I get home. Due to some excessive contamination I had to use metal polish and #0000 steel wool which left the surface very marred as you could imagine and all I had on hand at the time was D300. It was a chore but it worked.
