So I ordered the GG6 yesterday, and I bought 1 orange pad and 1 red. They are the GG pads. But I was wondering if those are good pads, or what are some others I should get for it? Also, what's a good kit for the GG6? Meguiars 2 step, or what??

If you decide to try non-Griot's pads, start with 6.5". These will fit your stock backplate and I've found the Griots has plenty of power to spin them. You can always step down to the 5.5" pads and buy a second backplate for them later if needed.

I ordered both Lake Country CCS and Hydrotech pads. CCS are easier to clean, but I think I like the Hydrotech pads better overall. I wish I'd started with just 1 type of pad / brand of compound to minimize the decisions and combinations to keep track of while starting out.

What kind of compound/polish should I buy? So many to choose from and I'm not sure which ones to choose.

Pick a brand, then a medium swirl, light swirl and cleaner/glaze from that brand. With your pads you'll have a half-dozen or more options of aggressiveness to attack swirls with.

Brand is often personal preference, but Wolfgang, Pinnacle and XMT are 20% off through tomorrow.

That's a pretty good deal. If you do some searches, all 3 lines are repeatedly mentioned as very easy to use and producing great results. It's no secret here that I am a Wolfgang fan, so I am VERY partial to that line. OTOH, they are a bit pricey, but I think well worth it.

CAVEAT: I really suggest that everyone read Mike P's articles and view the videos BEFORE performing any process. I went over them several times. That was the key point in my success. AG has provided us with an incredible resource. Make use of it.

The GG pads are great as long as the adhesive adheres to the pad

I would ad some 6.5 Surbufs, and you'll be good to go
