Hi Mike! I'm one of your fans. Recently, there's been a surge in people getting their cars glass coated that touts benefits such as bye-bye to swirl marks, deeper gloss and shine, far less requirement of routine wash and maintenance etc.
I'm from Pakistan. The temperature here is either very humid or very hot (35-38 degrees Centigrade usually). Dust is like, well, um, just imagine any western movie with lots of dust. Its really that dusty. People don't have any sense of proper car washing or maintenance. Spending $80-90 on a full detail of a totally messed up paint finish and dusty interior is like way too much for them even if they could afford ten times that amount.
My question is that whether glass coating really beneficial? Will it entail lesser maintenance? What are the downsides? Applicators are offering almost 3-5 years of warranty.

Thanks

For me on my daily driver its totally worth it. I cant say if it makes it less swirl likely, as I am a pretty careful washer. But I park it in the sun all day at work, and any wax or sealant gets murdered pretty quick, so having OptiCoat which is virtually UV proof makes it the first big benefit. Secondly I can use powerful cleaners when washing the car that would normally take a wax or sealant off. I use all Optimum products so when I wash I mix in their APC with their car was soap and a bit of their no rinse. If the car is really dirty or has road salt I spray those sections with 1/3 APC and let it dwell before I wash that panel. It makes quick work of grime. Then I use their detailer with about 20% spray sealant mixed in as a drying aid just to aid hydrophobic activities. Its a really easy way to maintain the finish.

You betcha! I have DP GLASS COAT (Now Mckees37). It makes the exterior glass so easy to maintain! And it lasts! It will beat a PA winter and ask for more come spring. Water just beads off.
