Glass Coating vs. Sealing

What is the 'value proposition' for using something like Optics's Glass Coating (or equiv) vs. hitting the windshield every month w/ Opti-Seal (basic sealant)?

Are the glass coatings really worth the $$$ vs. alternatives? I just have a hard time justifying the $70+ for a special coating for either my DD or weekend drive.

GTechniq G1 15 ml costs $18, is enough for multiple applications (when used for the windshield only), and lasts more than a year. If you are even more price-conscious, you can substitute G1 with G5, which is even more economic, but will still last multiple months (but you will want to reapply it after a month or two on your windshield, because it will develop light streaks in the wiper tracks).
