I spent a couple hours tonight polishing my wife's Caddilac SRX hood. After a couple tests, I ended up going with my most potent combo. Cobra Cross Groove Orange cutting pad and menzerna IP2000. This did a good job of cleaning it up, but I still have quite a few fine scratches left. Most of which a nail won't catch on.
What would you go with as a next step? I don't have any other polishes so I'd either have to order it or find it at a parts store (M105/205 are available locally) My understanding is that IP is closer to a heavy polish than a compund. Also, orange is as aggressive as my pads go.
My thinking is either pick up some 105/205 or order SIP/SF4K. My mind is leaning towards 105/205, or maybe UC/UP. I'm also wondering if the pad design could make DAT polishes more difficult to use due to the grooves harboring un-diminished particles. I could be over thinking things too.
What have you had luck with on this paint system, and how would you preced if you were me?
Chris.
