I'm sure this question gets asked often. I'm new to the forum and am really enjoying all the knowledge, feedback, and real world experience. I'm just curious what machine you grab most often and why you do so. Anyone else chime in, would love to hear what people have to say. If this thread belongs else ware my apologies.

First - because this is your first post, welcome to AutogeekOnline! :welcome:

Since you posted this in the Ask Mike Phillips your detailing questions! section, I'm guessing/assuming you want my take PLUS other people choices?

At this time, I grab the Supa BEAST. You actually see this in the pictures of the cars I detail as I tend to show everything I used on a car inlcuding tools, pads, towels and products.

Here's a recent example and as you can see I also use the PiXie and RUES Nano polishers a lot too.

Why the Supa BEAST?

Zero pad stalling
Quieter than the 3401
Lighter than the 3401
Smoother than the 3401
Cooler than the 3401

I also use free spinning random orbital polishers for things like soft paint, Griot's G9, RUPES BigFoot 21 Mark III, Porter Cable.

And I like the cordless FLEX PE14 (rotary polisher), with a 6" twisted wool pad for heavy cutting.

:)

When I do a 2 step correction the first thing I reach for is the Flex PE-150 cordless rotary for cutting, usually paired with 3d 500 ACA with various 5" pads.

I love working with a rotary, especially the Flex PE-150. No cords, light weight and PLENTY of power. Really makes polishing fun.

I also use various free spinning da's but have to also mention the Rupes I brid nano. Definitely an amazing tool!

Honestly, I find detailing to be a fun side hobby. So I grab the Griot’s Garage 3 inch DA, to keep the fun going and going.

On the business side of things, my 15mm polisher absolutely makes quick work of certain panels, but I do not like to use it on curved surfaces. If I put more cars on the garage lift, and got things up to chest level, ergonomically speaking, it’d probably be easier.

But I really like the accuracy that the smaller polisher allows. I paint enhanced one entire car with it, minus the hood.
Perhaps as time passes, I’ll grab the long throw more often. There’s a Sprinter Van upcoming and yeah...I’ll be one-stepping it with the 15mm and 6.5” HDO pads.
