After my car has been standing in the wind and weather for 7 days I decided that it was time to give it some love again and also try out my newly acquired IronX
I took no bookings for Saturday as this would be the day dedicated to my car. Well , that was until late Friday afternoon. I got a call from Willem, myself and Willem had been in discussion earlier the week about detailing his Amarok and then later on his GTi. Willem phoned to tell me that he unfortunately would not be able to bring the Amarok through to me anymore and wanted to change the booking so that I can detail his GTi. I agreed and Willem then asked me if we can make it over a weekend if possible. I decided to take the time I planned for my car and rather give my client first option. The GTi was booked for Saturday morning 8am and only after dropping the phone I realized that it would be a mk7 that I would need to detail. Come Saturday morning 8am and Willem arrived at my house to drop the car off. We had a brief discussion of what he expects from me and areas he wanted attention paid to. I decided to get the interior and engine bay out of the way first. As I got into the car to position it for me to start working I noticed the following
 almost brand new GTi
The car looked in pretty good shape since it's still fairly new and only a weekend car. It was dirty , but nothing major at all.
Interior was wiped clean, vacuumed, all the hard to reach areas were cleaned using my compressor, vacuumed again and then the leather trim was treated as a final touch.
Next up was Engine Bay
note. this was before the clean
With the Engine Bay and Interior out of the way I washed and dried the car. Now it was time for my IronX to come into play. Must say I was extremely nervous for this being my first time working with IronX and the car is almost BRAND NEW  The car was De-Ironed and after rinsing it for 15mins I decided to give it another wash. This time I also added APC mixed in 1:20 ratio. Wshed and dried again and I was finally ready to start claying. Clayed the whole car as there were some spots pointed out to me by Willem. I assumed the spots pointed out was from when the car was in transit and taped up , upon removal they didn't remove all the goo the tape had left behind. You couldn't feel this at all but it left some dull spots all over the front and rear bumper.
After Claying it was time to get my machine and some polish ready. Did a small test spot on the bonnet with my green polishing pads and Menz SF4000. I wasn't too happy with the outcome and moved to yellow cutting pads and Menz PF2500.
Small test spot on the bonnet
Few reflection shots after the polish and before the wax
I then moved on to my white buffing pads and got my Menz PL ready. After going over the whole car and dressing all the plastic trim I pulled the car out of my yard to snap some decent pics before the owner came to fetch it.
After shots
Reflection shots
At this point in time I would just like to thank the owner for granting me the opportunity to work on such a new car. I has an absolute blast working on this car and knowing that when I am done , the car will be looking better than when it left the showroom floor a few months ago. I would also want to thank Lawrence for helping me out when I needed info regarding the IronX. Without him I doubt if I would have even used IronX on this car.
