Is this something I can fix rather easily or do I need to get the bumper repainted

My neighbor backed up into me

This last one the gauge is pretty bad. Some plastic is protruding out

Im not a pro but it strikes me that, even if it was possible to fix it, you will spend as much in your time and hassles as you would in getting it redone.

So you think I should just get it repainted.

They want to charge me $350. Which seems fair however I was really trying to find a plastic bumper technique that might be a little more cost friendly

Get it repainted. There's not anything on the market to fix it properly that I know of. It's also a difficult color to try and touch-up.

PiPuk thanks

I tried to do a paint repair on this scrape on the bumper of this Camry.

A local paint and body shop put the paint in an aerosol can and used the paint code from the car to match the color. I opted to go with single stage paint instead of base coat and clear coat because it would be faster, less coats to put on and also a little cheaper.

I thought it came out pretty good. The damaged area was no longer noticeable, except the color didn't match.

A local paint and body shop said they would repaint the entire bumper, upper and lower, using base/clear coat, for about $150.

I could probably do it myself but the paint and materials would cost me almost as much and I just don't have the time.

Call a local paint touch up Pro and ask them to refer you to a "Spot Paint Repair" company

Should be about half the price of a body shop repair

Just my experiences...

I've had to do 'bumper repairs' on the wife's car more than once (people like to hit her in the parking lots) on her 2000 Subaru.

After sanding down all the edges and surfaces, I use factory touch-up paint (yea, those little bottles with a brush) and reduce (cut) it to about 50/50 and spray it with an airbrush.

In my case, the paint is a 'metallic' and the new paint is always a tad darker than what is on the bumper. So, instead of spraying a clear coat, I let it sit for a couple of months to fade then clear it. Which reminds me, I gotta shoot this years 'fix' this weekend.

Is it perfect...no. But it sure looks a LOT better than all that black ABS plastic showing thru.

Thanks everyone. I decided I'm going to give it a shot. I found the paint code and I will keep everyone posted how it turns out.

Allenk4 I agree. This guy referred me and he said it would be about $160 at the spot repair shop. I've always wanted to try it
Myself so I'm going to give it a shot. I have sand paper already and the paint is going to cost me $15 dollars

I'm going to prep the area and lay the paint down tonight

The process is coming along. I filled all the scratches. Took two days with a 12 hour drying time between both applications.
