Hi guys! If it's Off-Topic, it must be Jim. (I promise, I'll be talking about cars, too!)

So here's tonight's dilemma. My mother has a red granite table that was originally her grandmother's kitchen table. She had the legs cut (so the granite is EXACTLY AT SHIN LEVEL) and now it's the coffee table in the living room.

Mom isn't big on maintenance, and while she's out of town, I bought a granite kit from Weiman and gave it a very good cleaning, and have been watching it drink sealant. I'll be using the polish from the kit next, but was wondering if anyone has used their DA on their countertops, etc. What products they used.

I'm going to start with the polish that was included with the kit, but am thinking that something along the lines of Scratch X, Meguiars Ultimate Polishing Compound, or even good ol' fashioned polishing compound might make it shine like it was new.

As always, thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks for the video. I actually did watch that in my searches, and may attempt resurfacing the table some day. I like the looks of that kit.

I pretty much test all new products on Formica .Used a da on it and it screwed it up.It matted the Formica from the heat of the da.Granite is a different ball game.Although I know a detailer that serves that segment with regular carcare products .I would call a granite expert.

OK, any AutoGeekers in the future who stumble across this thread. The correct answer is in the video that Aztec1987 posted.

Here's what doesn't work.

Meguiars Ultimate compound on the white pad that came with your Porter Cable.
McKee's 37 360 on an the same pad.
Scratch X 2.0 on an Orange Lake Country pad.
Turtle Wax Polishing Compound (paste) an Orange Lake Country pad.
Profuse amounts of swearing.
Apologizing to your dog for scaring him.

However, the cleaning and sealing steps did make a difference. It looks a little better, although still dull, but water beads perfectly.
