So I guess since people here spend so much time and care on detailing the exterior of their cars - let's hear some thoughts and opinions on vinyl wrapping.

1) is the matte look overplayed at this point?

2) is it really protective of the paint or if you leave it on for years, does it cause damage?

3) is it better in places where winter weather kicks a lot of "crud" up on the car (like salt)?

1) Not for me, I really like it but with all my waxes and sealants I don't think I could do it to my car :)
2) No idea
3) No idea

1) Some folks like it...Not for me...was always overplayed, IMO.

2)a. Protective?...Dependent upon "size" of debris---Often not too helpful against Big rocks.
2)b. I've never had any removal problems with XPel PPF. Nor any paint-damage. (Most PPF's have a 5-7 years warranty)

3) Easier and less expensive to replace PPF, if necessary, than a respray, IMO. Ergo..non-debatable in my viewpoint or usage (except the "matte-look".)

I've wondered about these as well. I know now you can get the shiny wraps as well if you don't like matte.
