What is the difference between using a Griot's 3" polisher and a PC 7424 with 4" backing plate & CCDS pads?

Hum, 1 inch
The PC has a lot more power but is heavier and more bulky. THe 3 " Griot is handy for small areas but moderate pressure will stop it from spinning. It is still nice to have but you can definately get by without one but why should you.

Thanks for responding. The 1" on the pad is not so much the issue as the machine powering the action. For my use, if the PC w/4" backing and pads accomplishes the same thing as the Griot 3", then it's redundant and I'd rather put the $90 towards a Flex because there is a significant difference between and Flex and PC.

Have you thought about a rotary? For correcting deeper scratches especially after wet sanding they can't be beat.
